Nathan Fielder’s long-awaited next project, The Rehearsal, is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max, July 15th. This six-episode show marks Fielder’s return to television. What has Oregon Film been up to? – After assuring our industry worked so well through the turbulent pandemic period with several projects of all sizes, 2022 started off with a slow down. Needless to say, Oregon is still attractive and a great place to bring your creative production. Recently we worked with the state legislature and partners like the OMPA and the IATSE and SAG-AFTRA unions to increase the film and media cash rebate percentages from 18% to 25%. #OregonMade Hinge Digital won anADDY Award at the national level for Alpenrose’s “Keep Portland Small” campaign. Hinge won the ADDY at the 2022 American Advertising Awards in the Animation, VFX & Motion Graphics category. That’s after winning multiple Gold ADDYs in Seattle this spring.
Big congrats to all of Hinge’s amazing artists who created this charming CG stop-motion style world.

In camera VFX/ XR production is the exciting new ability to shoot anywhere, any time and at any scale in a single, controlled location. This cutting edge tech uses large-scale LED backdrops and camera tracking tied to 3D rendering software to create the illusion of a subject in a virtual environment.
After a two-year pandemic delay, Southern Oregon University has launched its innovative, new, 12-credit spring immersion course called “The Crew Experience.” Student filmmakers spend an entire term learning on location, collaborating under the supervision of faculty and experienced industry mentors on the set of a significant film project designed to emulate the professional working environment.

It’s time to dispel some of the myths and mysteries of working on a union film crew.
IATSE Local 488 is the union that covers most Pacific Northwest crew positions/Crafts on motion picture, TV/Streaming, commercials and other digital media productions.
The Portland Film Office, in partnership with Travel Portland, has announced the recipients of its 2022 Portland Post-Production Grant Program. Selected from a pool of 23 applicants, four local filmmakers will receive $7,500 each for their respective projects.
The grant program is intended to support the professional development of local Portland filmmakers by providing funds for such activities as sound, picture editing, color matching, color grading, closed caption, tech specs for distributors, and music clearances using local post-production houses. The Historic Jefferson County Courthouse and Jail in Madras, OR has now been restored and is ready for you to film your next project there. Today, the 6,500-square-foot courthouse features offices on the first floor for a property management company and two law firms. The second floor, which was used for trials and still has its original jury chairs, is open for events like weddings and anniversaries. Outside the courthouse has a landscaped lawn and a gazebo.
