Inaugural Outdoor-Adventure Film Grant Opens Tomorrow!

 We are excited to announce, with our partners, our inaugural Outdoor-Adventure Film Grant!
Oregon Film, Travel Oregon, Danner Boots, and the Portland Film Office at Prosper Portland have partnered to bring funding for a new competitive grant, the Outdoor-Adventure Film Grant (OAFG). The OAFG will enable the selected applicant to create a short film that specifically showcases the spirit, passion, and excitement of the outdoor-adventure, or action sports film genres in the state of Oregon. $18,500 in funding as well as equipment, services, and support will be provided. Portland Asian Film Festival Coming Soon…

The International Film Exchange of Oregon will present the first annual Portland Asian Film Festival, Nov. 10-16 at Cinema 21 and Nov. 17-18 at Portland Community College, Cascade Campus.

On the program are almost thirty feature films, including a retrospective dedicated
to the Japanese filmmaker Hideo Nakata, a master in the horror genre, from his classics Ring, Ring 2 and Dark Water to his recent productions, Monsterz, Ghost Theater, and White Lily.

Other Japanese films include the unconventional road movie Bangkok Nites, the intense drama Over the Fence directed by Nobuhiro Yashamita, and the grotesque thriller Museum, directed by Keishi Otomo. Continue reading... “Portland Asian Film Festival Coming Soon…”

The black listed comedy script, “Crash Pad” is the directorial debut for Kevin Tent, the oscar-nominated editor for ‘The Descendants” and “Nebraska”. Executive Produced by Alexander Payne, produced by Bill Horberg (“Milk”, “Cold Mountain”) and stars Domhnall Gleeson, Thomas Haden Church, Christina Applegate and Nina Dobrev. “Crash Pad” will be available on VOD this Tuesday, 9/26 and a limited theater release on 10/27.

Oregon Locations Shine In “Lean on Pete”

Lean On Pete” has been collecting some great reviews, and has already premiered internationally in the Venice International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, and also screened in the US at Telluride.   Writer-Director, Andrew Haigh  (“45 Years”) adapted Willy Vlautin’s 2010 novel of the same name, that shot in Oregon last summer.  The #OregonMade feature made great use of locations, shooting in NE , and SE Portland, at the Portland Meadows race track, a family ranch in Molalla, and out in eastern Oregon in Burns, Hines, and at the Harney County fairgrounds.  Continue reading... “Oregon Locations Shine In “Lean on Pete””

Netflix Orders New Show, “Disenchantment”, From Matt Groening

Netflix has given Oregonian, Matt Groening,  a 20-episode order for a new animated comedy, “Disenchantment.”  The adult fantasy comedy is about “life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you,” Groening told Variety.

Multiple Emmy Nominations For “Portlandia”!

 

 

 

The 69th Emmy Awards nominations were again kind to #OregonMade “Portlandia“.  Three nominations were handed down for:

  • Best Variety Sketch Series
  • Outstanding Costume Design for Variety, Non-Fiction or Reality;  (“Carrie Dates a Hunk”).  Nominees; Amanda Needham Costume Designer, Jayme Hansen, Asst. Costume Designer, and Jordan Hamilton, Costume Supervisor
  • Production Design (“Fred’s Cell Phone Company”). Nominees; Schuyler Telleen, Production Designer, and Katherine Isom, Set Decorator

Portland Art Museum Screening “Shut Up Anthony” – Tonight!

In case you have not seen it, Kyle Eaton‘s “Shut Up Anthony“, is screening tonight at the Portland Art Museum (7pm). The indie comedy has been picking up traction and some nice reviews and recently won a Spirit Award (for Narrative Feature) at the Brooklyn Film Fest. Starring Robert A. D’Esposito (Anthony), and Katie Michels (Sam) and Noelle Eaton (Noelle), produced by David Cress. Oregonian composer, Mark Orton, created the music.(For full cast and crew see here.) YouTube Red’s “Lace Up: The Ultimate Sneaker Challenge” Will Debut This Fall

YouTube Red, producer Ken Mok (“America’s Next Top Model”), and D’Wayne Edwards of Pensole’s design lab in Portland, team up to create this new unscripted competition series.

Netflix Dramedy, “Everything Sucks”, Shooting In Oregon City

“Everything Sucks”, a high school coming of age dramedy, set in the late 1990’s Oregon, is currently shooting in Oregon City.  The Netflix series will shoot 10 half hour episodes here in Oregon over the coming weeks.

“Everything Sucks” was created by Ben York Jones, and Michael Mohan, and is being produced by Midnight Radio, and is described as a, “quirky, funny coming-of-age story that follows two groups of high school misfits, an A/V club and a Drama club who collide in 1996 Oregon.”  Continue reading... “Netflix Dramedy, “Everything Sucks”, Shooting In Oregon City”
