If you’re a member of the creative class overflowing Portland’s bar scene, bike lanes and barista joints, you might want to take note of an event taking place later this month.

Portland creatives with an eye for film will converge in downtown Portland as part of Documentary Weekend. The event bills itself as an opportunity for people interested in film and documentaries – producers, actors, editors, directors, and film crews but also people with no experience at all – to meet form teams, then create a five-minute documentary in less than 30 hours. Oregon Story Board is Open for Applications

Applications are now open for the 2014 Oregon Story Board accelerator program.  Interested companies need to have their applications in by July 15th, 2014.

We’re excited to see what kinds of innovative companies will apply to take part. Do you know a company engaging with their audience with exciting new forms of narrative? Send them our way. The OPIF Tax Credit Auction is Currently Underway!

The 2014 OPIF Tax Credit Auction began Wednesday July 9 and continues through July 18.

The Oregon Department of Revenue is auctioning $10 million in OPIF tax credits.  This is the largest amount of tax credits we have auctioned off at a single time, so it is a great opportunity for more people to be able to have successful bids.

TNT has given the green light for a 10 episode order of a new drama series, “The Librarians”, (a follow up to the movie trilogy, “The Librarian“).  Electric Entertainment produced the trilogy, and is also taking on “The Librarians”.  TNT and Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment are no strangers to Oregon, having shot all but one season of “Leverage” here.  We are thrilled to welcome them back, with the cast and crew in place and ready to start work. To help studios and producers stay on top of crew and resources and to promote Oregon’s unique production advantages, the trade group Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA) has released the 2014 SourceOregon, a directory of the professional crew, talent, vendors and support services that make up Oregon’s bustling industry. Industry parties in Portland, Eugene, and Ashland are scheduled in April to celebrate the directory’s launch.
