OPB And UO-SOJC To Air “Don’t Wait for the Quake” With Broadcast Audience Engagement Tool

Tonight, OPB-TV will re-broadcast “Don’t Wait for the Quake,” an event hosted by Oregon Public Broadcasting and the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) on Nov. 17. The program will air at 9pm PT, and although tonight’s show won’t be live, A Fourth Act’s audience engagement tool Harvis will be.We invite you to join in.

SOAR, a new documentary featuring local dancers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd and directed by local filmmaker Susan Hess Logeais, will premiere on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 pm.  The screening will take place at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland), and will feature a Q&A with the director Susan Hess Logeais as well as co-producers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd. Historic Oregon Theater Is Added to HPLO’s “Most Endangered Historic Places” List

The Historic Preservation League of Oregon (Restore Oregon) just released their list of the “most endangered historic places” in Oregon.  Communities nominated their top choices and the HPLO chose ten.  Of that ten, one is the 85 year old Egyptian Theatre, in downtown Coos Bay. Inside is an original Wurlitzer organ, hand-painted backdrops. According to OPB, the City of Coos Bay “purchased the theater in 2006. Amazon Aquires Elemental Technolgies

Elemental Technologies, Inc., one of Portland’s fastest growing tech companies, announced today that they have joined forces with Amazon Web Services, Inc.  According to CEO, Sam Blackman, the acquisition will enable Elemental to “accelerate the development and adoption of (our) software-defined video platform”.  Elemental specializes in “high-speed video encoding and transcoding software” that can “provide multiscreen content delivery to audiences on any screen or device”.  Their headquarters are based in Portland, with offices in the UK, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. The OPB Independent Film Festival is this August

The OPB Independent Film Festival airs weeknights at 10 p.m., starting August 10.

OPB is celebrating the power of independent films with the OPB Independent Film Festival all month long on OPB TV.

Each weeknight at 10 p.m. from August 10-24, enjoy a documentary film from the POV and Independent Lens libraries. The festival wraps up with the annual OPB series Oregon Lens from August 24-28, which showcases the diverse work of local filmmakers.
