As Television aficionados know, nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning and amongst the nominees were several Oregon based filmmakers and companies!

Following the successful effort to create a voice for the Oregon Film and Television community in this blog, we recently convened a group of Oregon animation and visual effects professionals that we know, and asked them how a site dedicated to their segment of the industry might be received. After lots of lively conversation and great ideas, it became clear that there was great interest, and that it would be very helpful for drawing attention to the fact that Oregon has more than just great locations, amazing acting and crew talent, and not to mention, a terrific film incentive program. 2011 Daytime Emmy nominee Kerry Herta leads makeup artist workshops in Portland June 1-6.
Kerry Herta, the founder of Colour Box Makeup Studios who will be teaching a pair of upcoming artist workshops in Portland, has been nominated for a 2011 Daytime Emmy Award.
Herta, along with her team, was nominated for her work as Makeup Department Head during All My Children’s conversion to the HD format in early 2010.
It’s April, it’s beginning to sprout green everywhere you look and there are many good and green projects out there that make evident Oregonians are doing their part for Earth Day and a “A Billion Acts of Green®” this year.
It was already a banner year for Oregon film makers at Sundance with six films represented at the festival with Oregon ties. At the final day awards ceremony, 2011 became an award winning year for Oregon film makers. ……… then this year’s 48 Hour Go Green project is inviting filmmakers to SPEAK UP AND CREATE!
Simultaneously, on February 18th, 2011, in cities around the world , 48 Hour Go Green kicks off. Teams will be given a brief and then have only 48 hours to get their films written, shot, edited and through post (you can secure equipment, actors and choose team members ahead of time but must register prior to the kickoff) before finally submitting for competition. Attending our Annual Meeting was Governor Kulongoski, members of the Governor’s Office of Film & Television Board, as well nominees for the annual awards and a large audience of industry professionals at the newly rennovated Lincoln Performance Hall at PSU on Friday evening. PSU‘s technical team made it possible to catch up on industry happenings in Ashland, Bend and Eugene via live broadcast by teleconference bridge.
With our Annual Meeting a little over a week away, things are coming together and I know it’s going to be a great night! As for the annual meeting here is the date and time:
