UPDATE: Deadline extended to 5 PM on Monday, May 23th 2011!
Following the successful effort to create a voice for the Oregon Film and Television community in this blog, we recently convened a group of Oregon animation and visual effects professionals that we know, and asked them how a site dedicated to their segment of the industry might be received. After lots of lively conversation and great ideas, it became clear that there was great interest, and that it would be very helpful for drawing attention to the fact that Oregon has more than just great locations, amazing acting and crew talent, and not to mention, a terrific film incentive program. So, I entered my new short film, The Bag in to the Tupelo Film Festival (TFF). That’s right Tupelo Mississippi. I had heard good things about TFF and when it came time to enter film festivals I thought why not Tupelo. After all it is the hometown of Elvis Presley and since the writer/star of The Bag was Elvis’ leading lady in The Trouble with Girls maybe TFF would find a little extra interest in the film. Fast forward about 5 weeks and I haven’t heard anything back from Tupelo other than acknowledgment that they received my screener. When Richard Herskowitz called me to let me know that he was able to get Terrence Chang and David Linde to speak at this year’s Industry Symposium, I leaped at the chance to participate. It is very rare for an event in Oregon to have one person with this much industry experience let alone two people. And the best news is that the entire event is FREE!!!!! Check out the line up below and also check out all the other great things happening this year at Cinema Pacific. Continue reading... “Cinema Pacific’s Industry Symposium Open to the Public”
Yesterday on the KGW 6:00 news was this piece. The Portland Police Department has been a great partner on two recent television Pilots – first “Brain Trust” and now “Grimm”. Having the cooperation of organizations like the Portland Police department make Oregon a friendlier place to film. Hopefully it’s a winning proposition for the bureau as well. It was also great to have KGW pick up the story and let’s hope the “Grimm” ends up on KGW’s primetime lineup in the fall! Continue reading... “Portland Police helps the Wardrobe Dept. for “Grimm””
