Oregon Media Production Community Rolls Out Red Carpet, Honors Best Local Performances Of The Year

The annual 2015 Oregon Actors Awards took place at the Portland Center Stage, to a packed house over the week end.  The awards recognized outstanding members of Oregon’s film, video and multimedia industry.  Four awards were given to film, TV and commercial actors, and one for community service.

OMPA Invites You To The 2015 Oregon Actor Awards!

OMPA invites you to join us on Monday, November 23rd as we celebrate the brightest rising stars in Oregon. The Oregon Actor Awards recognizes on-camera talent whose work has been featured on network television, award-winning feature films, local and national advertising campaigns, short films and web series. The ceremony will be held at the Gerding Theater at the Armory, and includes a red carpet arrival, awards ceremony and hosted reception. The event is also a fundraiser for APP-NW. “Ansys Forte – Follow the Chemistry” New rDMS work

With their quirky and ultra-stylish Pizza Schmizza social media spot hot off the press, the Revolver DMS (rDMS) team shifted gears/genres and produced a more suspense-based web spot in collaboration with tech B2B marketing agency McClenahan Bruer (McBru).

The original Producer we were working with had resigned from the project for personal reasons, and I requested a couple of bids,” explains McBru Senior Communications Counsel Tarah Hartzler. “We had a script, storyboards and a few actors who fit our needs. We still needed the creative direction, video production and a spot delivered on a quick turnaround.”

Congratulations Nathan Cherrington and his wife, Lisa, The Governators, who trounced all comers at the 5-hour croquet tournament of the OMPA Classic powered by Zarr Studios. The Governators, representing the Oregon Governor’s Office of Film and Television, upset Barefoot Bullseyes Signa Cheney and Curtis Kidwell of Bullseye Disc, who were in fact as barefoot as they advertised. Portland Premier follows OMPA Annual Meeting on Monday

On Monday, January 28, 2013 at McMenamins Mission Theater in Northwest Portland, the Oregon Media Production Association‘s 6:30 pm annual meeting presents Awards of Excellence, and is followed by two films written and directed by Oregon independent filmmaker James Westby.

“Hot in the Zipper” a raucous screwball comedy set in the apartment of three lovely ladies in 1947 Manhattan, was filmed entirely in one unbroken 18-minute take and stars Jana Lee Hamblin, Katie O’Grady, Elizabeth Strelow and Spencer Conway. Additional credits include director of photography Kevin Fletcher, production designer David Storm, costume designer Casey Boyd and sound recordist Morgan Hobart. The NW Film Center & Project Viewfinder: From the Streets to the Screen

 

Without question, those of us creatively engaged in the local film scene are blessed to be able to participate in our growing industry.  As we head into the holiday giving season, the NW Film Center would love to encourage OMPA members to become acquainted with a new program we’re developing to help those without a voice tell their stories through the medium of film.

The Great NW Film Tour is a new series geared toward independent releases, kicking off at McMenamins Mission Theater on Saturday, May 19

In a partnership with the Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA), McMenamins presents The Great Northwest Film Tour, giving new films a place to be shown, gather momentum and burst out onto the scene. At regular intervals, The Great Northwest Film Tour will host directors, actors and/or producers at our McMenamins hotels and theater-pubs with their latest work – could be a documentary, an action film, animation or beyond.
