THE DISCOVERERS Opens June 20, Meet Filmmakers Opening Night

The Oregon-made feature film, The Discoverers, starring Oscar and Emmy nominee Griffin Dunne will have its Pacific Northwest premiere at the Regal Fox Tower in Portland on June 20. Writer/director Justin Schwarz will attend the 7pm show for a Q&A with his Portland-based crew. The film will expand to Salem, Eugene, Sisters, Ashland and more cities throughout the summer. International Bike Culture at 12th Annual Filmed by Bike

The creativity, grassroots spirit and wild enthusiasm was undeniable so it’s no surprise a film festival – Filmed by Bike – was in the mix of endeavors that rose out of this formative era. Year after year a primarily Portland-based pool of filmmakers submitted films to the festival, which this year runs April 19-22 at the Clinton St. Theater.

Moviemaker Magazine Awards Two Oregon Cities With Honors For “Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker 2014”!

In years gone by, Moviemaker Magazine lumped together big city and small town to compete for the sought after title of, “Best Places To Live and Work as a Moviemaker”.  This year, the magazine has split their list into three components:

  • Top Big Cities (they define as more than 50,000 residents)
  • Top Small Cities (100,000)
  • Top Towns (under 100,000)

Fifth Annual Eastern Oregon Film Festival

Eastern Oregon Film Festival is proud to present it’s fifth edition — #EOFF2014. The festival will kick off Thursday, February 20, and run through Saturday, February 22. A decompression gathering with music, skiing, and snowboarding will take place Sunday, February 23 at Anthony Lakes Ski Resort.

The opening night short film is Bernardo Britto’s YEARBOOK, followed by Dave Carroll’s feature documentary, BENDING STEELA live Q&A with the filmmakers will take place after the screening. Oregon Film Incentive Update – Incentives Available in OPIF and iOPIF

Film CommissionWith 2014 coming quickly, we thought it would be a good idea to send out an update on the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF) and the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund (iOPIF).

SOFaT Announces New Board

Southern Oregon Film and Television (SOFaT), Southern Oregon’s media industry trade association, introduced its new board last night at their 2013 Wrap Celebration held at the SOU Digital Media Center in Ashland. Members of the organization were joined by prominent members of local government and business to celebrate a very successful year in film and media production in the region, which included a very high-profile day of shooting for the Reese Witherspoon film WILD.
