Horror Film Festival Celebrates Lucky 13th Year – Streams Online

Southern Oregon’s 2020 Killer Valley Horror Film Festival (KVHFF) celebrates it’s lucky #13 this year, but for the first time ever, it will not be hosted live.  In previous years this festival celebrated independent filmmakers with in-person screenings, filmmaker meet-and-greets, and an awards ceremony in Ashland, OR.

This year, the 2020 Killer Valley Horror Film Festival launches officially on their website at 3am, Oct. 9th (the witching hour) and runs through midnight of Nov. 1st, 2020 (as the Day of the Dead makes way for All Soul’s Day). Outdoor Adventure Film Grant 2021 – Winner Announced!

The fourth annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” (OAFG21) is pleased to announce the winning application, entitled, “You Go Girl.”

Oregon’s open spaces and outdoor pursuits are for all Americans and visitors, yet there is a well-documented inequity in America that is deeply rooted in our shared cultural history, and as a whole, our outdoor spaces are not equally utilized for a multitude of historical, social and cultural reasons. BendFilm Presents: $7,500 BIPOC Womxn Film Grant

BendFilm is offering a $7,500 production grant for BIPOC Womxn artists.

TIMELINE / DEADLINES:

  • Grant application launches Wednesday, August 26
  • Application due Wednesday, September 23.
  • BendFilm will notify finalists on October 1.
  • Live pitches will take place during the BendFilm Festival October 8 – 25

On-screen representation affects cultural understanding of BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA+ characters. Barriers need to be broken down until equal representation is achieved on-screen and behind the camera. #OregonMade, “Trinkets” – Streaming Now On Netflix

The #OregonmadeNetflix series, “Trinkets” Season 2 is now up and streaming on Netflix.

This season, “a grieving teen finds an unexpected connection with two classmates at her new high school after they all land in the same Shoplifters Anonymous group.

“Trinkets” won two Emmys this year for “Outstanding Young Adult Program” and “Outstanding Writing for a Children’s or Young Adult Program” – Writers: Amy Andelson, Stephanie Coggins, Linda Gase, Emily Meyer, Jess Meyer, Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith, Matt Shire. Safe Sets International – #PracticeSafeSets

As many of you may have seen over the last few weeks, Safe Sets launched a simple certification program to help crews get some basic training and insight on set safety in the post-COVID world. Since so many of us signed up and took the course, we wanted to share some further insights into just what SSI is. To that end, we spoke to Founder Alex Kolodkin this week, and he provided some detail and history.

A Conversation With Prop Master -Greg McMickle

Over the years, Portland local, Greg McMickle, has expanded his skill-set to include many  talents; Propmaster, Production Designer, trumpet player, writer, and Proprietor of The Prop House.  We recently caught up with him to ask more about his time working on #OregonMade projects, specifically, “Mr. Holland’s Opus” that shot here in 1994.
