WIA Portland Starts This June At Pink Rabbit
WIA Portland is holding its first event on June 16th! This chapter is just one piece of the global organization known as WIA. WIA, is a non-profit organization that works to empower and advocate for those of underrepresented gender identities in the art, technology, production and business of animation.
Prospective members, allies and friends are all welcome to join us at the Pink Rabbit bar in downtown Portland.

Students had to apply and interview for their crew positions and were placed based on the experience, skill levels and portfolios of work they have accumulated in preceding classes.
Outside The Frame, a non-profit based in Portland that trains homeless and marginalized youth to be directors of their own films and lives, is having its world premiere of 360° films at OMSI’s Kendall Planetarium on Thursday June 2nd. Doors will open at 6pm for the 6:15pm viewing, and at 6:45pm for the 7:00pm viewing. The filmmakers will also be in attendance and there will be a reception in the lobby to take place from 6pm-8:30pm. Tickets are on a sliding scale and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
-a-thon will be hosted on Saturday June 18th, and will honor Juneteenth celebrations by making music videos for Black Portland-based musicians. Spots are limited to 24 Open Signal Members and the registration deadline is May 23rd. Filmmakers will work together to come up with concepts, storyboard, shooting, and editing all within the 6 hour time limit and Open Signal will host a screening that night to view the music videos. The grant program is intended to support the professional development of local Portland filmmakers by providing funds for such activities as sound, picture editing, color matching, color grading, closed caption, tech specs for distributors, and music clearances using local post-production houses.

The Historic Jefferson County Courthouse and Jail in Madras, OR has now been restored and is ready for you to film your next project there. Today, the 6,500-square-foot courthouse features offices on the first floor for a property management company and two law firms. The second floor, which was used for trials and still has its original jury chairs, is open for events like weddings and anniversaries. Outside the courthouse has a landscaped lawn and a gazebo. The current owner is even open to renting out their classic cars.
