Rentals, Repairs, and Rock’n’Roll – Behind-the-Scenes at Koerner Camera Systems

Portland Based Koerner Camera was recently featured in a “mini doc” from Cine D called “Rentals, Repairs, and Rock’n’Roll – Behind-the-Scenes at Koerner Camera Systems.”

Cine D took time to visit Koerner Camera Systems, the largest camera rental house north of Los Angeles with offices in both Portland and Seattle, and talked to owner Michael Koerner about the history of his business.

Film Tourism On The Agenda At The People’s Coast Summit, Astoria

This year the People’s Coast Summit 2023, took place in Astoria, Oregon. Hosted by the Oregon Coast Visitors Association, Erik Nachtrieb (CEO, SetJetters) was invited to present a keynote address on Film Tourism, and how travel organizations can embrace this growing tourism sector. The Oregon Film Trail is partnered with SetJetters to raise Oregon’s filmed history profile, both within our Oregon communities and beyond the state boundaries.

Below are some key takeaways from Nachtrieb’s presentation:

  1. Film tourism is a $66B dollar industry and is described by Expedia Group as the new direction of travel.

Amrita is another word for honey, which also translates to ‘holy food’

Join us for one of two upcoming fundraising events to support local female filmmaker, Onyx Baird, in completing her feature-length documentary, Amrita! You will get a chance to hear about Onyx’s journey in making the film, as well as get a sneak peek of the film in progress.

Events will be hosted by Urban Nest Realty (Nov 9th 6:30-8:30PM) and Only Today Studio (Nov 11th 6-8PM)

Each evening will feature small bites, tasty beverages, and a delicious honey tasting!

“Showing Up” Collects Two Nominations – Gotham Awards

 

We are thrilled to report that Kelly Reichardt’s #oregonmade “Showing Up” (2022) has collected two nominations in the 33rd annual Gotham Awards lineup.

  • Outstanding Lead Performance: (Michelle Williams)

Nominees are selected by “committees of film and television critics, journalists, festival programmers, and film curators. Separate juries of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors, and others directly involved in making films will determine the final Gotham Award recipients.”

“Mother Of Color” Gets Amazon Prime Deal!

Dawn Jones Redstone‘s #oregonmade Mother of Color” gets nationwide distribution with Amazon Prime!

Dawn (she/her) is an accomplished Oregon filmmaker and an award-winning queer, Mexican American writer/director. She directed multiple short films including the acclaimed ‘Sista in the Brotherhood” distributed by Collective Eye. Her narratives often feature women of color (in front and behind the camera) and she explores themes of resistance and feminism. Dawn has been the recipient of multiple grants and awards in Oregon, including from; the Regional Arts and Culture Council, Portland Art Museum, Seeding Justice, Oregon Futures Lab, Story Changes Culture, and Prosper Portland.
