BENT Does Coke in Europe

Football (Soccer) insanity is personified in a new 3D collaboration between Santo, (Buenos Aires, London, Milan) and Bent Image Lab, (Portland Oregon). Helmed by mixed-media maestro Carlos Lascano, “Spirit of the Euro” is an outrageous romp through stylized landscapes of Eastern Europe with an eccentric cast of chameleonic characters. The Coke-drinking, silly dancing, trumpet blowing, costume wearing, song chanting, stranger hugging football fans are a unique combination of CG animation and real actors’ eyes—a first for Coca-Cola, and a ground breaking technique for cinema 3D stereo.

A Place Called Home Lecture this Sunday 3/25

On Sunday, March 25th, the Dill Pickle Club kicks off of A Place Called Home: Lectures on Filmmaking in Portland, a monthly lecture series focused on the history of movie-making in the city, at Cinema 21 with guests David Cress, Walt Curtis, Shawn Levy and David Walker.

DAVID CRESS will talk about Portland’s tradition of advertising and how it’s nourished the film community. Cress is best known as Producer for Independent Film Channel’s Portlandia, although he has been active as a maker in Portland for several decades.

Great Film Festival Programming in Ashland and Eugene Coming in April

Once again in April Oregon is home to a series of great film festivals in consecutive weeks. The eleventh annual Ashland Independent Film Festival is happening April 12-16. This year the festival is honoring acclaimed director Julie Taymor. With Ms. Taymor’s experience in both live theater and film, it makes perfect sense that Oregon Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Bill Rauch will join Ms. Taymor on stage for a certain lively and engaging discussion. Other filmmakers expected to be in attendance include documentarian Ondi Timor and director Lynn Shelton.

Ashland Producer Gary Kout Talks About His Work on Oscar Winning Film “Rango”

Many of you may know Gary Kout as the president of Southern Oregon Film and Television (SOFAT) and producer of films like “Walk In,” “Calvin Marshal,” “Conversations With God” as well as many commercials. A few years back, he was contacted by Gore Verbinski’s team on the Academy Award winning film “Rango” to be the production supervisor on the live action performance capture shoot for the film. The process was unique to animated feature films, but helped the film makers create something special.

Population: 2 featured at Houston World Festival

Portland film Population: 2, directed by Gil Luna, has been receiving a multitude of awards and recognitions since it finished production in December of 2011. Top among these has been the reception of an Award of Merit by The Indie Fest and an Award of Excellence from the Accolade Competition.

The most recent news is that Population: 2 will be featured as an official selection in the World Premiere of The 45th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film and Video Festival, which takes place between April 13th-22nd.

Festival Passes : POW Fest 2013, Ashland Film Fest 2013, Susan Orleans “Voices” Series Lecture and VIP Reception 2013

The purpose of the grant is to support working women video and filmmakers who reside in Oregon and SW Washington (Clark County). The goal of the grant is to provide financial assistance to women filmmakers and to aid in the next step of the crafting of an idea, honing a vision, or assisting in the completion of a consequential piece of work.

Coming this month to Oregon – Wheel…Of…Fortune!

About two years ago I was contacted by Steve Denari from the local ABC afilliate KATU about the possibility of landing “Wheel of Fortune”. We jumped at the chance to help with the effort and along with the help of Mayor Sam Adams’ team, it’s now a reality. Actually the producers of “Wheel” came up here nearly a year ago to shoot all the on location bumpers for the 20 episodes and now they are about to set up shop at the Oregon Convention center.

PORTLAND, Oregon (March 09, 2012) the announcement just earlier this week that “Cell Count” was chosen as the Closing Night Film and to also have it’s World Premiere at this years Fantaspoa Film Festival in Brazil we thought it would be a great time to show our new poster from the amazing Tom Hodge at The Dude Designs.

Cell Count is the story of Russell Carpenter who “reluctantly admits his wife Sadie into an experimental treatment facility for her life threatening disease.

During the turn of the 19th century, in a tiny town nestled somewhere in the Netherlands, a husband and wife had once run a very unsuccessful candy shop. Desperate, broke and starving they had decided to trade their souls to a demon in exchange for a recipe that would teach them how to make the most delicious chocolate in the world. Much to their dismay, the next morning a basket was discovered on their doorstep, and inside – a young, living child made of chocolate.
