Join the Co-Op! Portlandia is Gearing Up for Season 3

Portlandia returns January 4th with a whole new, ten episode season of sketches.

Back in August, Portlandia’s director, Johnathan Krisel told the Oregonian that this season was “getting weirder”, so lots to look forward too then!  Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will be working with some returning favorites, like Kyle MacLachlan as Portland’s fictitious mayor, as well as plenty of new characters such as Chloë Sevigny playing a new roommate for Carrie and Fred.  However, IFC didn’t want to make hardcore fans wait until January for the new season so they are showing, “Winter In Portlandia” as a special, airing December 14th.

Hollywood Theatre Marquee Kickstarter Campaign!

The Hollywood Theatre, Portland’s historic nonprofit theatre, is in dire need of a new marquee. The current marquee is crumbling and leaking through the roof, slowly damaging the beautiful façade.  To raise the remaining money to replace it, the theatre has kicked off a campaign on the crowd-funding website, Kickstarter.

The goal is to raise the remaining $55,000 to fabricate and install a new neon, illuminated sign based on the design of the theatre’s original marquee of 1926 .

Recent Production photo from “Redwood Highway”

Oregon has always been known as a great place for the independent film scene, and 2012 is no exception.  Since July, there have been four independent films that have been accepted as a part of the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund which was created in 2009. In addition, critically acclaimed director Kelly Reichardt is directing her fourth film in Oregon.  The first one to go into production was “The A List”, which was produced in Lake Oswego.

Hi,

I’m a photographer based out of Portland and I’ve been working on a new TV series for OPB titled Oregon Photo Adventure.  The show features different photographers on each episode providing photographic inspiration and education while showcasing the natural beauty of the state.

The filming for the first season is complete, however some post-production work is still needed before getting the series to air.

Also, please share this link on social media feeds, etc.:

Oregon Film Veterans Mentoring Graduating U of O Filmmakers Wins Award

Oregon Film Veterans Katherine Wilson and Philip Krysl (with over 40 years as Oregon filmmakers and 50 Oregon Film Credits between them) mentored 10 students this last year from the U of O into the industry by helping the students produce the couples’ screenplay “Animal House of Blues”. The collaboration with the students began small as a short for credit in a NW Film Class, which then resulted in final projects and Career Center and Journalism Internships. Not wanting to stop there, Student Director/ Cinematographer/ Editor Jay Richardson was supported by the whole group of students from several classes over the summer to create a feature length Documentary and entered the Eugene International Film Festival August 17th, the day summer school ended.

Green Happenings – Walking The Green Talk

Last week I attended the Go Green Portland conference with such speakers as Cylvia Hayes, the founder and CEO of 3EStrategies, (a clean economy consulting firm) and partner of Gov. John Kitzhaber; Duncan Wyse, president of the Oregon Business Council; Carol Sanford, author of “The Responsible Business” and Nick Barham of Weiden and Kennedy.   It seemed that they had a common theme; many valuable and interesting businesses are blossoming here in the Pacific Northwest and much useful work is underway but there is much yet be done.
