Some Techfest Highlights – Mirada’s Andy Merkin, Intrument’s Duet, Pander Box

With Techfest NW fast approaching we wanted to highlight a few cool elements that have a nice digital storytelling theme.  If you want the whole rundown of speakers and parties, be sure to go to the Techfest website here.   The Willamette Week also has nice coverage (it’s their event after all) of the event and some speaker highlights.

Why is Oregon Film talking up Techfest?  Because the event includes elements that will cover some of the great work happening in Oregon’s digital media/digital storytelling world as well as a few nationally known professionals in this emerging industry.

Pander Brothers Present Panderbox Transmedia Lounge for Techfest NW Party Sept 7 – 6:00

PanderBox.TV Launch in the PanderBox Transmedia Lounge

The 2013 TechFest NW will host the PanderBox Transmedia Lounge where the Pander Brothers will launch their new web channel, PanderBox.TV.  The Portland based filmmaker and graphic novel team will present their array of web media story worlds in comics, music, digital video and give a sneak peek of what to expect on their new digital entertainment channel, PanderBox.TV.

PANDER BOX Transmedia Lounge – “Tasty Bullet Exposed!”

The PanderBox Transmedia lounge will feature the brothers’ conspiracy laden transmedia project, Tasty Bullet.

Open Casting call from Polluted Pictures.

Polluted Pictures is now accepting online submissions for their most current project which is currently “Untitled.”  We are shooting this project in accordance with the SAG SHORT FILM guidelines with deferred pay.  This film is being produced as a “proof of concept” for a feature film shooting later this year.  Our previous three feature films were financed through similar “proof of concept” pieces.  None of the footage from this short will be used in the actual feature film that is produced subsequently.

New OPIF Tax Credit Auction Announced for October 21-25

As a result of the legislation passed this year, Oregon’s Department of Revenue will be conducting another tax credit auction for the Oregon Production Investment Fund.  This time the total amount of tax credits to be auctioned will be $4,000,000.  The process will be exactly like the successful auction conducted in July.  It’s important to know that there is only time for one more OPIF auction this year so we will be working hard to make sure all $4,000,000 sells out in the designated time frame.

Techfest NW – Great Speakers and Great Parties! September 6-8 at OMSI

If you are someone who is passionate about the storytelling world that’s being created with the intersection of creativity and technology, then you’ll want to show up to Techfest NW this year.  Oh yeah and there should be some great parties to attend as well!  Included in the speaker list are Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici who will speak on her STEAM Education efforts, Producer Andy Merkin from Guillermo del Toro’s Mirada Studios, Kate Ertman from ADi, Mountain Machine Games founder Nick Lambert, and the team from Cascadia Games.

New Film Fest to Kick Off OSF’s Daedalus Project

The Daedalus Project, The Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s annual fundraiser to end the spread of HIV/AIDS, is thrilled to launch its first-ever film festival on August 16-18 at The Varsity Theatre on Main Street in Ashland.

The Daedalus Film Fest, produced in partnership with the Ashland Independent Film Festival and Coming Attractions Theatres, includes a slate of 5 bold, original, award-winning documentaries about the ongoing global HIV/AIDS crisis.

Clackamas County Business and Economic Development Unveils Online Film and Media Permitting Process

Clackamas County Business and Economic Development has unveiled a new one-stop online permitting application for film and media production enterprises wishing to film anywhere in Clackamas County. In partnership with the Governors Office of Film and Television, Clackamas County is promoting the regional development of the film, video and multimedia industry in order to increase the industry revenues and investment county-wide.

Clackamas County Business and Economic Development division serves as the primary liaison between film and media productions, cities and agencies.

“Little Leaks” a Big Deal for Local Animation Company

CMD and Hinge Digital teamed up to deliver a fun, informative and engaging campaign for NW Natural. “Little Leaks” was conceived as a collaboration between CMD and the Hinge creative team. Hinge created four unique 3D egg characters. The eggs are lighthearted and fun visual storytellers in a spot that educates viewers on how to recognize and react to a gas leak.

“Night Moves” Premieres at Venice International Film Festival and Will Screen at Toronto International Film Festival

Director Kelly Reichardt’s (“Wendy and Lucy”, “Meek’s Cutoff”) new film, “Night Moves” will be screening in competition at the Venice International Film Festival (August 28th- September 7th) and will also screen at the Toronto International Film Festival  as a special presentation.
