NW Animation Festival offers FREE entry until Nov 30

The Northwest Animation Festival is accepting submissions for 2013.

The final deadline is Jan 31. Entry is FREE if films are received by Nov 30.

The festival will take place on May 17-19 in Portland, Oregon. Organizers expect to screen 125+ films this year — making this the second largest showcase of animated shorts in the the USA.

The entry process is fast and simple. Animators are encouraged to send the 20-question entry form via email, and to submit movie files via online transfer.

Local Premiere of Independent film ‘Nightscape’

The local premiere of our debut film, ‘Nightscape’ will screen on Friday, November 16th at 7:30pm and 9:30pm at The Venetian Theater in Hillsboro. The film will also screen on Friday, December 14th at 9:30pm at The Hollywood Theater in Portland as a benefit for the education advocacy organization Stand for Children.

‘Nightscape’ is about an emotionally-guarded drifter who crosses paths with a phantom car responsible for a wave of supernatural violence. The film was shot last summer in Portland, Sauvie Island, Hillsboro, North Plains, Banks, and St.

These films cast a whole new light on the rivers in our own backyards, exploring and celebrating our relationship to the lands and rivers that surround us.

Two Portland Made Films from the Brothers Freeman playing back to back nights at Film Festivals in Oregon.

PORTLAND, Oregon (October 15, 2012) The Feature Films The Weather Outside and Cell Count are screening on two nights at two Oregon film festivals.

First up is The Weather Outside and its World Premiere at this year’s Eugene International Film Festival.  The Weather Outside is the story of Max who “finds himself separated from his family on Christmas Eve. He ultimately comes to the conclusion that his wife has left him and taken their children along with her. One year after the disappearance, he begins to discover that he might have one last risky chance to get them back.

Today we bring your the final video (above) in our Summer Interns’ “Oregon Vendor Spotlight” video series.  Today’s video features local restaurant, Acapulco’s Gold.

When a film or television show comes to town, many restaurants in the vicinity of the production see an immediate increase in business. Acapulco’s Gold, located near the NW Portland set of NBC’s “Grimm,” is no exception. After a long, strenuous day of filming, crew members often head to Acapulco’s Gold to kick back and relax in their friendly, one of a kind atmosphere.

Oregon Vendor Spotlight: City Liquidators

This week we bring you the final two videos of our Summer Interns’ “Oregon Vendor Spotlight” video series.  In today’s video (above), the Interns visit the Portland family owned City Liquidators.

What at first appeared to be a common furniture store has become a unique, one-stop shop for film and television productions looking to buy props and other items in the Portland area. City Liquidators, family owned and operated by the Pelett family, has seen a recent boost in business thanks to the film industry in Oregon.

U of O’s Cinema Studies and School of Music to Screen One of the First Student Films Shot at the U of O

UO Film on Film series presents “Ed’s Co-ed” accompanied by Beta Collide

University of Oregon’s Brian McWhorter composed and arranged the original score

Eugene, Ore. – (Oct. 8, 2012) – The Cinema Studies Department at the University of Oregon, in conjunction with the Working Filmmaker Series workshop, will present the 1929 Oregon film “Ed’s Co-ed” as the first screening in this year’s Film on Film series.

Showings of the movie are at 7 p.m on Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct.

The First Annual CreativeCares Do-Gooders Awards

Design Week Portland kicks off next week coming up Oct 9-13th, to showcase all the diversity and talent within the City of Roses. The densely scheduled exhibition of Portland design talent—visual, film, fashion, furniture, letterpress, architecture, and beyond—has galvanized the creative masses in Portland to fling open their doors, network their asses off, and generally show off.

On the night of opening day, at the Cleaners, there’s a kickoff party that also marks another new first: The 2013 CreativeCares Do-Gooders Awards.
