Oregon Story Board Open For Applications For Accelerator Class Of 2015

OSB_rgb Oregon Story Board have opened up applications for the second class of the Oregon Story Board accelerator program. Check out the FAQ for more information, and apply by May 8th, 2015.

The accelerator provides physical space, business mentorship, collaboration opportunities, infrastructure support, networks, and seed capital to early-stage companies in the film, video, animation, visual effects, digital media and gaming sectors during a four-month class.

OSB is spurring job growth and economic viability for companies at the intersection of these industries, with the premise that collaboration and shared resources will lead to more business opportunity in our creative, technology-infused economy.

Will Vinton to Keynote McMinnville Short Film Festival

Oscar- and Emmy-winning filmmaker Will Vinton will be the keynote presentation at the 5th Annual McMinnville Short Film Festival on October 3, 2015. As a Director and Producer of 3D animation, Will Vinton has won virtually every film and television award given a filmmaker – several hundred in total. Will directed and produced the world’s first all Claymation feature film, the critically acclaimed ADVENTURES OF MARK TWAIN. Soon after, he directed the first three California Raisin commercials that launched a legendary series of hip commercials, entertainment, merchandising, and a CBS Saturday morning TV series, THE CALIFORNIA RAINSIN SHOW.

CW’s TV Comedy, “Significant Mother” to Shoot Series in Portland

Josh Zuckerman Alloy Entertainment, and CW‘s “Significant Mother“, is set to shoot in the Portland area late spring and will air in August. The series shot three digital episodes for The CW Seed last year, and now has upped the series to TV. The show will star Josh Zuckerman (“Desperate Housewives”, “90210”), Krista Allen (“What About Brian”), Jonathan Silverman (“Weekend at Bernie’s”), Emma Fitzpatrick (“The Social Network”) and Jay Ali (“The Fosters”).

Ashland Independent Film Festival A Success

The 14th annual Ashland Independent Film Festival took place over the week end in southern Oregon. AIF gives special focus to small independent features and shorts and always includes Oregon projects.

During the 5 days of screenings and events, 97 films were presented, as well as many workshops, Q-and-A’s and “talk-back” sessions. All of the screenings were well attended at this packed festival.

Of note, “A River Between Us” premiered to a sold-out audience, with the filmmakers, Sen.

Lower Boom Launches!

Lower Boom is a new Portland-based micro-budget film studio, talent incubator, and Film Discovery platform developer, and they are having a launch party this Monday, April 13th, at Dig a Pony (736 SE Grand).

They are going to screen their inaugural project, the short film LETTER B, a fictionalized recreation of the Beatle’s documentary Let It Be, with an all-female cast as the band, and will also highlight their upcoming projects.

iOPIF to Begin Accepting New Applications May 4th

July 1st will mark the beginning of a new fiscal year and a new round of funding for our film incentive programs. As a result, we are preparing to open up the application process for our “local filmmaker” program, commonly referred to as the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund (iOPIF).

We will begin accepting iOPIF applications on May 4th, 2015. Our iOPIF Advisory Committee will evaluate all applications submitted between May 4th and May 8th as having been submitted at the same time.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Tours Independent American Filmmakers to US Communities

Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 8.18.27 AM Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s On Screen/In Person program tours independent American filmmakers to communities throughout the mid-Atlantic region to screen their recent work. To further engage audiences, Filmmakers also collaborate with host sites to develop community activities, such as artist talks or workshops.

The Foundation covers all travel costs, reimburses the selected filmmakers for eligible expenses, and provides $200 per day for expenses. Filmmakers also receive a $400 stipend for each engagement on tour.

Filmmakers from across the United States are eligible to submit films for consideration.
