May 24, 2018 – From world-renowned animation studio HouseSpecial and Director Kirk Kelley comes Armor del Amor – a scripted nature ‘documentary’ that follows the mating rituals of Dasypus novemcinctus, to discover the dark underbelly of modern mammalian dating.

The narrative follows a nine-banded female armadillo as she emerges from her burrow and into the lonely Texas landscape. HouseSpecial researchers captured footage of this modern animal’s efforts to find a potential mate until finally, after several ill-fated opportunities, a match is made. Marty in Transit – Portland Premiere

Hey all! My feature, filmed entirely in Portland, is premiering at The Clinton Street Theater this July. Marty in Transit is an ambitious 90-minute, one-shot thriller about an FBI Agent hunting down a killer who is targeting cab drivers.

It premieres on July 13th and 14th at 8 pm.  After this preview in Portland, we’re headed off to the festival circuit!

POWGirls Announces Summer 2018 Workshops

POWGirls offers workshops in video production, cinematography, audio recording, set lighting, digital editing and media literacy for girls and non-binary youth ages 15-19. Our instructors are working media producers who inspire participants to be creative, tech-savvy leaders who will help realize gender equity in the film industry. All films produced during POWGirls workshops are screened at the Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POW Film Fest).

Synopsis:

Droplets is a story about racism, sexuality, mental health, and human rights. It depicts the lives of four college students: Daphne, Gerard, Leo, and Michael. These students all struggle with their identity in a far from perfect world.

To put it simply, there have been a lot of great movies made in Oregon. Going back more than 100 years to “The Fisherman’s Bride” in Astoria, through to Buster Keaton’s, “The General”  shot in Cottage Grove; then moving into the westerns that took advantage of the diverse locations of Central Oregon and Mt. #OregonMade “Leave No Trace” Acquired By Sony Worldwide + Bleecker Street

Debra Granik (“Winter’s Bone”) directed the #OregonMade “Leave No Trace”  premiered at Sundance at the end of last month.  After the rave reviews Sony Pictures Worldwide was quick to acquire international rights, and Bleecker Sreet has aquired North Americn rights. “Leave No Trace,” set in Portland’s Forest Park, tells the tale of  Will and his teenage daughter, Tom, who “have lived off the grid, blissfully undetected by authorities in a vast nature reserve on the edge of Portland.
