A native Oregonian, Don Baldwin is a location scout and manager with broad production experience over nearly three decades of work in the Pacific Northwest. Following six years of active duty as a naval officer, including three extended deployments to the Western Pacific, he returned to Portland and began work in film and video production. Girlscout Locations is headed by native Portlander, Sara Burton who has over 25 years location experience in Portland. She began her career with Gus Van Sant’s “My Own Private Idaho”, followed up with a decade of studio feature work in Los Angeles and now 18 years in Portland has set up to exclusively serve advertising and commercial productions. Girlscout Locations has a team of consultants who work seamlessly with clients having access to the GSL massive location library, long time permitting relationships, and regional contacts to find every “needle in the haystack.”
“Everything Sucks” is the latest #OregonMade series to hit TV screens and set to air February 16th. This newest Netflix series is described as a high school coming-of-age dramedy, set in the late 1990’s in Boring, Oregon. It shot 10 episodes last year in Oregon City, Boring and Fort Rock.

Sundance Film Festival announced its lineup today and we are pleased to see that Debra Granik‘s (“Winter’s Bone”) new feature, “Untitled Debra Granik Project” was just accepted in the festival’s World Premiere section. Granik wrote (with Anne Rosellini) and directed this #OregonMade film. “A father and daughter live a perfect but mysterious existence in Forest Park, a beautiful nature reserve near Portland, Oregon, rarely making contact with the world. Brian McElroy has been working in location management for over two decades and has had an interesting career path that ultimately led him to Oregon. We caught up with him after he had finished working on “Woodstock or Bust” – an indy film written and directed by Leslie Bloom, a Lake Oswego native.

Dave Schelske is a local photographer, scout and certified drone operator in the Portland area with over 20 years of location experience. Schelske – “Most of my work has been with outdoor recreation client for national print ad campagins and TV. I have a large library of backcountry locations both here in the NW and around the country. On location is where I love to be, so when I’m not out on a job, you can usually find me out exploring new places, shooting stock images and mentally logging in new locations for future projects.”
