This year marks the fifth season that Wheel of Fortune has featured a “Going Green” theme week. As well as the kick off Going Green Week, the show is also featuring, Portland Week, College Week and the Great Outdoors. See the schedule for air dates on KATU below:

We were there for the Going Green Week taping and the set looked amazing, complete with a digital waterfall and greenery -both live and re-useable manufactured greens.
March 30 was the first night of taping for “Wheel of Fortune” in Portland. KATU did a feature on the show on their 11:00 news. Here’s the link to the feature.
We have already blogged about the Wheel of Fortune shooting a week’s worth of shows this week end and early next in Portland for their up-coming “green week” but I also wanted to take the opportunity to give a shout out to Sony Pictures Entertainment and their sustainability efforts.
ReStore, a Habitat For Humanity division, can be found nationwide and is open to the public. They sell an enormous variety of reclaimed building materials; everything from doors and windows all the way to the proverbial kitchen sink. The proceeds from our local stores go to Habitat for Humanity to help build homes for needy families right here in Oregon.
We could not have been happier when NBC Universal contacted us to collaborate on their greening efforts for the series, Grimm. We immediately recognized this particular show as a good match and unique opportunity to put the foundation of our previous work in identifying green vendors and services to good use.
Welcome to Good Works Film Festival, a first-time event in Eugene (with a kick-off screening in Portland). We are presenting a series of acclaimed feature-length films with an array of social justice themes.
GWFF is not only about great films; what happens once the lights come on is equally important. The festival celebrates and encourages thoughtful discussion, community engagement and positive action, and will be providing a context, time and space for this to occur.
Numerous organizations and groups will participate, in the audience post-screening discussions with filmmakers, panels or roundtables, by providing resources and by networking and socializing at the festival Hub. Continue reading... “Good Works Film Festival”
River Network National River Rally (a Portland based national nonprofit since 1998) will kick off with the benefit screening of The River Why on September 9th, 7pm at the Hollywood Theatre. Actors William Hurt, Zach Gilford (“Friday Night Lights”), Alex Hurt and Producer Kristi Denton Cohen will be on hand before the screening and for a post-film Q&A.
The River Why was shot entirely on location in Oregon and tells the story of 20 year old fly-fishing prodigy, Gus Orviston (Zach Gilford), who, in an act of rebellion, shuns his prior life and family for what he thinks will be a secluded existence of fly fishing heaven on the banks of a beautiful river.
