Moviemaking has always been a collaborative process, and the need for creative production of light and sound aren’t going anywhere, but the capabilities of iPhone cameras are improving phenomenally with each new version. As now we know, some filmmakers have dabbled with creating movies just with their phones and tablets, and mobile film festivals are popping up everywhere. The indie comedy “Vampire Camp” was honored with the Best Feature award at the Vampire Film Festival in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10.
“Vampire Camp” was produced in the Rogue Valley with an all-Oregon cast and crew. The film was directed by Ray Nomoto Robison of Medford and written by Robison and Cathy Stadtfeld of Central Point. Portland filmmakers David F. Morgan and Cora Benesh are excited to announce the premiere of their movie CITY BABY next month at the 23rd CINEQUEST film festival in San Jose.
CITY BABY is a Portland-centric coming-of-age story about a group of meandering 20-somethings trying to find meaning in the new world of adulthood. We seek writers with the ability to tell a compelling story quickly and cinematically, while adhering to a theme and a practical eye towards real-life movie production. MICHAEL BARTLETT’s Oregon made “House of Last Things” has been selected to premiere in competition in France January 30 – February 4th at the “20th International Festival du film fantastique de Gérardmer”. One of nine films selected for competition, the films in competition include Barry Levinson’s “The Bay,” and from Spain, “Mama”.
Cast includes Lindsey Haun (TRUE BLOOD), Blake Berris (DAYS OF OUR LIVES), and RJ MITTE (BREAKING BAD) in his first feature film role.
