Klik, Amsterdam’s favorite animation festival, concludes their historic first-ever US tour with a stop in Portland. Join Klikkers Tünde Vollenbroek and Mathijs Stegink, and Dutch animation director Joost Lieuwma (Things You’d Better Not Mix Up, Leaving Home) at the Hollywood Theatre for two special screenings on June 1st:

The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POWFest) is now accepting entries for its eighth annual festival scheduled to take place March 12 – 15, 2015. The regular deadline for entries is Friday, August 15, 2015. POWFest places a spotlight on women directors by showcasing their work and empowering the community of women in film. POWFest encourages women to find their voice and to share their stories through innovative and quality filmmaking. We feature the work of today’s top women directors, honoring the true pioneers while providing support and recognition for the next generation of leading women filmmakers. Jesse Eisenberger (“The Social Network”) and Alia Shawkat (“Arrested Development”) on Kelly Reichardt’s “Night Moves” set in Southern Oregon.
“Night Moves” will be opening May 30th at the Angelika Film Center in New York, most likely followed by openings in Los Angeles and Portland before playing other cities nationwide.
The film will also be screening in advance of the release date, at the Tribeca Film Festival (April 21st, 24th and 27th), as well as at a few other U.S. festivals.

In 2003, Portland’s bicycle culture was really taking off. The creativity, grassroots spirit and wild enthusiasm was undeniable so it’s no surprise a film festival – Filmed by Bike – was in the mix of endeavors that rose out of this formative era. Year after year a primarily Portland-based pool of filmmakers submitted films to the festival, which this year runs April 19-22 at the Clinton St. Theater.
The 9th Annual DisOrient Asian American Film Festival returns to the Bijou Art Cinemas in Eugene, Oregon on April 10-13, 2014. DisOrient celebrates new, independent films about Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) that showcase AAPI writers, directors, actors, and artists who deliver brilliant scripts, creative animation, diverse casts, and fresh storytelling.
DisOrient 2014 will be welcoming 25 attending filmmakers and actors from Oregon, New York, LA, San Francisco, Mid-West USA, Hawaii, Canada, and Iran.
The 2014 DisOrient Festival will hold its first ever Social Justice Special Event on Thursday, April 10 featuring the Academy Award Nominated documentary “The Act of Killing,” which records the shocking memories of paramilitary officers who proceeded to eradicate Indonesian Chinese during the 1960’s.
