Teaser Poster for the feature film Cell Count II: Blood Count

PORTLAND, Oregon (January 17, 2013)  The feature film “Cell Count” went to film festivals all over the world in 2012 and is now available on all leading digital VOD stores including iTunes.  It is now the Freeman Brothers’ profound pleasure to present the Teaser poster for the upcoming sequel entitled “Cell Count II:  Blood Count.”

Second Story Interactive Studios Receives Innovation In Media Arts Award

In Oregon we are blessed to have people who know how to tell stories.  Storytelling has always been a part of Oregon’s DNA.  We have great novelists, great song-writers, and great filmmakers.  We also have great innovative storytellers.  One such group of innovative storytellers is Second Story Interactive Studios.  Founded in 1994 by Julie Beeler and Brad Johnson, Second Story is thought of as one of the leaders in the interactive industry, collecting over 400 awards and accolades.

Ashland Independent Film Festival announces eMerge Transmedia Showcase for the 2013 Festival

Ashland, Ore.—The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) today announced a multi-part transmedia showcase to be unveiled as part of the 12th annual festival, April 4 – 8, 2013 in Ashland. Created to showcase new forms of digital and interactive storytelling, the program has been developed in collaboration with Southern Oregon University’s Emerging Media and Digital Arts (EMDA) program, and is sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Film and Television, Project A, the Portland Incubator Experiment (P.I.E.), and Second Story Interactive Studios. Oregon made feature film Cell Count now available on VOD.

PORTLAND, Oregon (December 20th, 2012)  The feature film “Cell Count” made it’s World Premiere at this year’s Fantaspoa Film Festival in Brazil on May 20th.  Since then it has gone to the Macabro Film Festival in Mexico, the Montreal HorrorFest in Canada, Sitges Film Festival in Spain, Rojo Sangre Film Festival in Argentina, Montevideo Fantastico Film Festival in Uruguay, Another Hole in the Head Film Festival in the USA, and Celluloid Screams in the UK.  Director Todd E. Happy Holidays from Limbo Films!

My what a busy year 2012 turned out to be! We produced spots for Mead Notebooks, Ikea, Intel, Kent State University, Cadet Heating, Leatherman Tools, and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Once the creatives at New York agency Ryan Partners gave Limbo Films the green light on a national spot for Five Star/Mead Notebooks our first task was setting the excellent trainers from Boones Animals in Hollywood to work. For 2 weeks prior to our Santa Monica based shoot they trained 4 hero and 4 back-up pooches to do the tricks required by the script and all their work paid off. ParaNorman Nominated For 8 Annie Awards

It’s gratifying to see ParaNorman (Focus features + Laika) nominated eight times for an Annie Award, including Best Picture.

In Individual Achievement nominations there are seven categories in which ParaNorman talent gets a nod:

Animated Effects; Andrew Nawrot, Joe Gorski, Grant Laker, Character Animation; Travis Knight, Directing; Sam Fell, Chris Butler, Character Design; Heidi Smith, Production Design; Nelson Lowry, Ross Stewart, Pete Oswald Ean McNamara, Trevor Dalmer, Storyboarding; Emmanuela Cozzi and Writing; Chris Butler.

The NW Film Center & Project Viewfinder: From the Streets to the Screen

 

Without question, those of us creatively engaged in the local film scene are blessed to be able to participate in our growing industry.  As we head into the holiday giving season, the NW Film Center would love to encourage OMPA members to become acquainted with a new program we’re developing to help those without a voice tell their stories through the medium of film.
