#OregonMade “Showing Up” Premiering in Main Competition At Cannes

This morning the 2022 Cannes Film Festival announced its Official Selection.  We are excited to see #OregonMade, A24’s “Showing Up” nominated in the main competition group.  “Showing Up,” was directed by Kelly Reichardt, written by Reichardt and Oregonian, , and produced by Oregonians, Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani  and Vincent Savino (see all cast and crew here).

This is Michelle Williams’s fourth collaboration with director Reichardt, following “Wendy and Lucy” (2008), “Meek’s Cutoff” (2010), and “Certain Women” (2016), and the 6th film Reichardt has shot in Oregon. Continue reading... “#OregonMade “Showing Up” Premiering in Main Competition At Cannes”

#EOFF2022 Call For Entries Open, Encore Screening Series

It’s February Encore Screening time. Opening up February 13 for our virtual encore series, this month features Lauren Everett’s short doc THUNDAAR LIVES!, Jen Elkington’s JEAN, Rollyn Stafford’s ZOMBIE WALK, and Kerry O’Neill’s short narrative BEA AT REHAB. The short film block will be available until the end of February.

The encore screening series is a way to share #EOFF2021 short films with our community of friends, filmmakers, and audiences alike as we build out our ‘Friends of the Festival’ catalog and make large steps towards our The Liberty Theatre’s opening and our thirteenth annual program scheduled for OCTOBER 20-22, 2022.

The Ashland Independent Film Festival Announces New Festival Dates and Plans

ASHLAND, OREGON – The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) announces that its 21st Annual Festival, originally scheduled for April 14 – 28, will now take place virtually on their Eventive Channel from April 1 – 10. Due to the recent circumstances and news surrounding COVID-19, the organization made the decision to postpone their Live Festival to ensure the health and safety of their patrons, in addition to the community at large. We’ve teamed up with our friends at Monstrous Femme Films to present a panel of women, non-binary and Black horror filmmakers around how their unique experiences influence their stories. This conversation centers traditionally marginalized horror filmmakers but all are welcome. Event funded in part by the Regional Arts and Culture Council.

Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’ Took Inspiration From Florence, Oregon

You still have time to take part in the City Lights Cinemas and the Siuslaw Public Library District presentation of the “Frank Herbert Dune Celebration,” honoring the historical ties between the Florence dunes and the seminal science fiction classic that influenced a generation of books, music, and films.

In 1957, Herbert traveled to Florence, Oregon to write a magazine article on the Oregon Dunes. “…Sand dunes have been known to swallow whole cities, lakes, rivers, highways,” he wrote to his agent, fascinated by the struggle between nature and humanity. Fall Is Almost Here – St. Helens’ Spirit Of Halloweentown Fest Returns – Now A Featured Stop On The Oregon Film Trail!

This fall the annual St. Helen’s Spirit of Halloweentown festival will transform this small Oregon town into a spooky, family-friendly destination for six weekends beginning September 18 and running through October 31.  This year celebrity guest appearances from Ashley Greene, (Alice Cullen) “Twilight” and movie actors J. Paul Zimmerman and Phillip Van Dyke from“Halloweentown” have been added to its abundant offering of family-friendly events.
