The 2013 Women’s Vision Grant is accepting applications through July 31st.
The Women’s Vision Grant provides financial support to women creating media in Oregon and SW Washington (Clark County.) This project-based grant aids in a current production, while fostering the artist’s professional and personal development. The grant is offered annually through Women in Film, Portland (WIF-PDX.) Originally entitled The Faerie Godmother Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, founded in 2005 by Vikki Mee, the grant became the Faerie Godmother Production Grant through Women in Film, Portland, and is now the Women’s Vision Grant. Willamette Writers is soliciting entries for the 2013 FiLMLaB’s “Script-to-Screen” short film scriptwriting competition.
We seek writers with the ability to tell a compelling story quickly and cinematically, while adhering to a theme and a practical eye towards real-life movie production. Unique to scriptwriting contests, the Script-to-Screen Competition grand prize is this: we will produce a short film based on the winning script! MICHAEL BARTLETT’s Oregon made “House of Last Things” has been selected to premiere in competition in France January 30 – February 4th at the “20th International Festival du film fantastique de Gérardmer”. One of nine films selected for competition, the films in competition include Barry Levinson’s “The Bay,” and from Spain, “Mama”.
Cast includes Lindsey Haun (TRUE BLOOD), Blake Berris (DAYS OF OUR LIVES), and RJ MITTE (BREAKING BAD) in his first feature film role.
On Monday, January 28, 2013 at McMenamins Mission Theater in Northwest Portland, the Oregon Media Production Association‘s 6:30 pm annual meeting presents Awards of Excellence, and is followed by two films written and directed by Oregon independent filmmaker James Westby.
“Hot in the Zipper” a raucous screwball comedy set in the apartment of three lovely ladies in 1947 Manhattan, was filmed entirely in one unbroken 18-minute take and stars Jana Lee Hamblin, Katie O’Grady, Elizabeth Strelow and Spencer Conway. In Oregon we are blessed to have people who know how to tell stories. Storytelling has always been a part of Oregon’s DNA. We have great novelists, great song-writers, and great filmmakers. We also have great innovative storytellers. One such group of innovative storytellers is Second Story Interactive Studios. Founded in 1994 by Julie Beeler and Brad Johnson, Second Story is thought of as one of the leaders in the interactive industry, collecting over 400 awards and accolades.

Steve Oster (Producer, “Grimm“) announced the Film Advocate Awards that were presented to Derrick Roberson,Sergeant Erin Smith, and Sergeant Peter Simpson by Governor Kitzhaber.
PORTLAND, Oregon (December 20th, 2012) The feature film “Cell Count” made it’s World Premiere at this year’s Fantaspoa Film Festival in Brazil on May 20th. Since then it has gone to the Macabro Film Festival in Mexico, the Montreal HorrorFest in Canada, Sitges Film Festival in Spain, Rojo Sangre Film Festival in Argentina, Montevideo Fantastico Film Festival in Uruguay, Another Hole in the Head Film Festival in the USA, and Celluloid Screams in the UK. Director Todd E. Freeman won Best Director and Actor Robert McKeehen won Best Actor at the Montevideo Fantastico Film Festival.
