“Emmett, Sheya, and S.E. are incredibly talented and inspiring filmmakers, and we are thrilled to showcase their remarkable work here in Portland. Their courage in sharing their unique trans stories is an important contribution to the rich tapestry of our city’s history, especially during Pride month.
Oregon Film, sometimes called the Oregon Film & Video Office other times called the Governor’s Office of Film & Television, is the oldest US state film commission that we know of. Founded in 1968 our mission is to develop, grow and support the film and media industry here in Oregon.
That mission has pretty much remained the same for years but the things that we do and how we try to achieve them often change.
Synopsis: “A filmmaker seeking inspiration for her next movie brings her volatile husband and defiant young son camping on the Oregon coast. When her competing desires to be a good mother and creative artist come to a hilt, she reaches a painful but powerful breakthrough.” Prior to the film, Lindsay Baltus will kick off the evening with her storytelling piece “Pregnant in the Archives,” inspired by her personal experience with childbirth, interspersed with archival recordings of a feminist consciousness-raising groups of the 1970s.
