Great Film Festival Programming in Ashland and Eugene Coming in April

Once again in April Oregon is home to a series of great film festivals in consecutive weeks.  The eleventh annual Ashland Independent Film Festival is happening April 12-16. This year the festival is honoring acclaimed director Julie Taymor.  With Ms. Taymor’s experience in both live theater and film, it makes perfect sense that Oregon Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Bill Rauch will join Ms. Taymor on stage for a certain lively and engaging discussion.  Other filmmakers expected to be in attendance include documentarian Ondi Timor and director Lynn Shelton.  Continue reading... “Great Film Festival Programming in Ashland and Eugene Coming in April”

Superbowl Ads Once Again Have an Oregon Connection

Last year Portland’s powerhouse ad agency Weiden + Kennedy made waves with their Chrysler commercial featuring Eminem.  This year it was Clint Eastwood.  (I can’t embed the clip so here’s the link) http://www.youtube.com/chrysler?sid=1037056&KWNM=chrysler+commercial&KWID=3179744957SB_2012&channel=paidsearch The spot which aired at halftime of the Superbowl was almost as much of a pep rally as it was a commercial.  It’s already received a lot of buzz and sure to continue through the week.  W+K also scored with several Coca Cola commercials featuring their animated Polar Bears.  Continue reading... “Superbowl Ads Once Again Have an Oregon Connection”

First Tidbits of “ParaNorman” Marketing Start to Roll Out

It looks like Halloween is the season for LAIKA to kick off their marketing campaign for “ParaNorman”.  We found this blog post with the first poster artwork.  And yesterday they set up the “ParaNorman” twitter account.  We’ve also heard rumors that a trailer of “ParaNorman” might be showing in front of some films this weekend but we haven’t been able to confirm.  The film doesn’t debut until August of next year but it’s great to see that LAIKA is already out there drumming up an audience for this film.
