A Conversation With Prop Master -Greg McMickle

Over the years, Portland local, Greg McMickle, has expanded his skill-set to include many  talents; Propmaster, Production Designer, trumpet player, writer, and Proprietor of The Prop House.  We recently caught up with him to ask more about his time working on #OregonMade projects, specifically, “Mr. Holland’s Opus” that shot here in 1994.

Oregon Film: How did you get your start as a Prop Master?

Oregon’s Top Trainer Talks To The Animals

 

Lauren Henry and partner Roland Sonnenburg started Talented Animals in 2005, and, if a film was made in Oregon and there was a live animal in it, chances are they were trained by Talented Animals.

Willamette Week’s Jay Horton profiled Henry and Talented Animals which are now, arguably, the most sought-after animal trainer in the Pacific Northwest. Filmmaker Beth Harrington Announces New Project – The Musicianer

 

On the heels of her successful music documentary, The Winding Stream – The Carters, the Cashes and the Course of Country Music, filmmaker Beth Harrington is pleased to announce that she and her team are in pre-production on a new project. The Musicianer will be a music-based narrative digital series that builds on the research done on old-time music during the making of the The Winding Stream, and takes the subject matter in new and surprising directions.

Governor’s Office of Film & TV Has New Executive Director

The Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television Board announced today the appointment of Tim Williams as Executive Director. Williams comes to the job after a lengthy search by the Oregon Film Board and plans to officially start in Oregon Film’s Portland office by October 1st.

Previously based in London and New York, and now living in Los Angeles, Williams has a long history in film and TV production and finance throughout the US and internationally. He recently worked for Fox Searchlight during preparations for their upcoming film “Wild” – which shot on more locations throughout Oregon than any other feature film.
