Governor Kitzhaber and Steve Oster Present Oregon Film Office’s Film Advocate Awards To Portland Police Bureau and Portland Parks

At Oregon Film & Television’s Annual Meeting last night, we were able to honor some amazing Film Advocates who have been integral to the film and television industry.

Steve Oster (Producer, “Grimm“) announced the Film Advocate Awards that were presented to Derrick Roberson, Sergeant Erin Smith, and Sergeant Peter Simpson by Governor Kitzhaber.

Derrick Roberson, the Recreation Coordinator for Portland Parks and Recreation, operates as a communication liaison between Location Managers and the Portland Parks and Rec.

At Oregon Film & Television’s Annual Meeting last night, Dean Devlin (Producer, Leverage) and Governor Kitzhaber presented Film Advocate Awards to Catherine Comer and Jamie Johnk from Clackamas County Business and Economic Development.  Catherine, (Business & Economic Development Manager) and Jamie (Economic Development Coordinator) represent a “best case” example of the cooperation between the needs of the film and media production industry and the community at large.

Ashland Independent Film Festival announces eMerge Transmedia Showcase for the 2013 Festival

Ashland, Ore.—The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) today announced a multi-part transmedia showcase to be unveiled as part of the 12th annual festival, April 4 – 8, 2013 in Ashland. Created to showcase new forms of digital and interactive storytelling, the program has been developed in collaboration with Southern Oregon University’s Emerging Media and Digital Arts (EMDA) program, and is sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Film and Television, Project A, the Portland Incubator Experiment (P.I.E.), and Second Story Interactive Studios.

…. leave your can parked and walk over to the brand new Raven and Rose in the recently renovated historic Carriage House to socialize.  We will provide the appetizers and there will be a cash bar.  The Raven and Rose does have a capacity and if full, we suggest the overflow meet at the McMenamins Market Street Pub.

The Winding Stream – The Carters, the Cashes and the Course of Country Music – a feature-length documentary about the musical dynasty at the heart of American roots music is almost done. Vancouver, WA producer/director Beth Harrington and her filmmaking team have completed a fine cut of the film and are dashing to the finish line in time for festival season.

“Wake Before I Die” is the story of “Pastor Dan Bennet who moves his family to a small Northwest town and begins to suspect that all might not be as idyllic as he first imagined.
