Local production company Road’s End Films releases the newest trailer for RUNESTONE, a television series pitch headed to NATPE in January 2015.

RUNESTONE, a historically inspired dramatic adventure series, stars Claudia Christian (Babylon 5), Frank Collison (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman), and Conan Stevens (The Hobbit). Road’s End Films is an award winning independent film studio producing feature films, television series, documentaries and new media entertainment. Located in Wilsonville, the studio maintains a 6500 sq. ft. facility with a 3500 sq.

Portland’s Uncage The Soul Video Production Produces Spectactular “Requiem of Ice”

Local to Portland, Uncage The Soul Video Production have unveiled their “Requiem of Ice” – an incredible journey into the Sandy Glacier Cave System on Mount Hood.  The project took a year to complete, documenting the largest glacier cave system in the lower 48.

Uncage The Soul has also produced “The Oregon Coast: A Winter Odessy”

Anderson Productions Expands their PDX Facilities

Now occupying the entire 2nd floor of 415 NW 13th Avenue – a convenient and central location in Portland’s creative hub, the Pearl District, Anderson Productions has recently expanded their facilities by relocating to the beautifully refurbished 4,000 square foot space.

Founded in 1994 by Gwen Anderson, Anderson Productions offers clients a full range of services including full service production and post-production. Anderson boasts some world-class engineering talent, with Chief Audio Engineer James Collazo.

Housed in the new facility, Anderson will now be featuring a full 5.1 surround sound Pro Tools HD audio suite with a sound-isolated Voiceover Booth.

“Welcome to Unity,” has won both Children’s Jury Prize and Adult Jury Prize for Documentary Feature Film at the 2014 Chicago International Children’s Film Festival.

“Welcome to Unity,” a 90-minute documentary directed by Katharine Mahalic, is a light-hearted, comedic film that shows how crazy things get when seven foreign exchange students, including two from Muslim backgrounds, are brought into a Christian home in the tiny town of Unity, Oregon—population 100. It’s a story literally filmed by a group of exchange students as they sink their teeth into rural Oregon, becoming the stars of the high school football team, and simultaneously learning to live the “American Way.”

POWGirls Expands Program to Empower Young Filmmakers

POWFest will host POWGirls in 2015, a unique partnership program with MetroEast Community Media, specifically designed for girls ages 15-18. Over the course of four days in January, a group of selected girls will develop, produce, edit and present a film during the Youth Shorts program at the POWFest March 12-15, 2015.

“We want to serve girls who are passionate about creativity, leadership and technology,” said POWFest Education Manager Barb Myers. “We’ll give them video equipment and training to produce their own stories and screen them in front of an audience at POWFest.”

BENT Goes “Over the Garden Wall” for Cartoon Network

Portland, Or – Animation studio BENT Image Lab conjures up a series of whimsical storybook promos for Cartoon Network’s “Over the Garden Wall”. Directed by BENT’s Solomon Burbridge, the promos bury the viewer deep inside the beautiful CG/stop-motion pages of a forest-woven book, seamlessly transitioning to clips from the show.

“I wanted to take the well worn old trope of ‘from the vaults’ or ‘magic book opening’ and add a new twist to it,” says Burbridge. “The idea of an infinite tunnel book was a great way to further this idea by giving the interior pages dimension and atmosphere.

VFX/PDX User Group Meeting – Short Film Saturday! w/Lessons Learned + Proximity & More!

flyerThe Portland area visual effects and animation user group, VFX/PDX, has a special program on tap for the upcoming user group meeting on November 15th.  A little something called “Short Film Saturday!”  It’s been a prolific year for eye-popping short films in the area, and this show promises an in-depth look behind the scenes at the visual effects and other wizardry from this year’s crop.  Headlining will be Toby Froud’s Lesson’s Learned (presented with VFX artists Adam Sager and David Manuel) and  Joshua Cox’s Proximity

DRYLAND Documentary Screens In 41st Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival, Nov. 15th

“Dryland”, a 62-minute documentary by Sue Arbuthnot and Richard Wilhelm of Hare in the Gate Productions, makes its Portland premiere at the 41st Northwest Filmmaker’s Festival, in the Northwest Film Center’s. (Following the screening – “Inside the World of Film Composing,” a workshop given by “Dryland” composer, Mark Orton.)

Filmed over a decade and set in the American West, “Dryland” traces a young man’s quest for victory in a rambunctious contest, while battling to preserve a threatened way of life.
