The Statesman Journal has featured Hinge, a Portland-based creative production studio, and Executive Producer Roland Gauthier, in a recent article that emphasizes the studio’s accomplishments with popular animated Cartoon Network show “Toonami”, and follows the unique dynamic of the Oregon Film Industry as it compares to a “Changing Hollywood”.

2020 Oregon Coast Film Festival: Call for Submissions

“Call for Submissions”
The Oregon Coast Film Festival is an exhibition of Oregon films, filmmakers, cinematographers and photographers. Scheduled for January 24-25, 2020 at the Egyptian Theatre in Coos Bay, Oregon.

“Call for Submissions” –  July 15, 2019 to December 15, 2019

We screen short films, photography collections, student films and selected feature film(s).
Submissions and guidelines are through FilmFreeway and guidelines are available here.

Considered submissions into the film festival should have a connection to the People, Culture, Environment, Landscape and Artists of Oregon, the Pacific Northwest and the rivers and oceans.

Chomp! PDX: A New Food & Film Festival in Portland

A night of eclectic films, food & beer. The mission of Chomp! is to explore our relationship to food through film. This inaugural event’s theme is horror.

Featuring short films by local artists Mila Zuo, Kelly Cox, and Cooper Johnson and more. Hosted by Dirk Marshall of the popular VHUS Podcast. Filmmakers will be on hand for Q&A and networking after the programming.

Portland’s own Pono Brewing company will be releasing a limited release Red IPA along with Chef Sarah Schneider serving up some killer grub.

Portland Post-Production Film Grant Program 2019 – Now Accepting Applications

The Portland Film Office, in partnership with Oregon Made Creative Foundation (OMCF), invites local filmmakers to apply for funding designed to encourage the completion of a local feature-length project and position producers to build towards larger, more resourced productions.

The Post-Production Film Grant Program supports the professional development of small, local filmmakers by providing funds for activities including sound design, scoring, editing, color correction, closed captioning, VFX, and music clearances using local post-production houses.

A total of $20,000 will be awarded in four $5,000 grants.

7th Annual Klamath Independent Film Festival Opens September 13

The only complete festival experience dedicated entirely to Oregon films and filmmakers, KIFF continues to be the only place to fully experience Oregon independent film.

Nestled in the high desert, alpine mountain community of Klamath Falls in Southern Oregon this year’s KIFF kicks off with an opening night street party outside the Ross Ragland Theater, joined by filmmakers, sponsors and other VIPs along with live music, a selection of beverages and food trucks. The street party will be followed by an introduction to the festival and opening night feature “Phoenix, Oregon” which was filmed on location in Klamath Falls in 2018.

Congrats to “Lifeboat” On Its Outstanding Current Affairs Documentary Emmy Nomination! 

Nominees for the 40th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards have been announced and many congratulations to  “Lifeboat” on its Outstanding Current Affairs Documentary nomination.  Director (and Oregonian) Skye Fitzgerald, (now based in Portland but grew up in Eastern Oregon) has an impressive collection of documentaries under his belt, including, “Lifeboat.” The film documents North African migrants trying to make it across the Mediterranean sea to safety.  “Lifeboat” was nominated for an Oscar in the Documentary Short Subject category 2018.

Netflix’s “Trinkets” Is Back For Season 2

We are excited that the Netflix young adult series, “Trinkets,”  will be back in Oregon for season 2 for a 10 episode run that is being dubbed “its final” one, starring, Elodie (Brianna Hildebrand), Moe (Kiana Madeira) and Tabitha (Quintessa Swindell).

“Phoenix, Oregon” Returns from a Nationwide Tour to The Hollywood Theatre for One Last Portland Screening

The #OregonMade feature film that had a very successful run in The Portland Circuit this past May, returns to Portland for an encore screening on Sunday, August 25 at 7pm. You can book your tickets here.

#OregonMade “The Postman” Coming on 35mm to The Hollywood Theatre on September 4

Next up in our #OregonMade Film Series at The Hollywood Theatre comes a post-apocalyptic film like no other (unless you count WATER WORLD, then, yes, it’s kind of like that). Kevin Costner’s Central Oregon shot THE POSTMAN, winner of both the prestigious Razzie and Yoga Awards, tells the story of an unnamed wanderer who retrieves a postman’s uniform and a bag of mail, and embarks on a quest to deliver the letters within.

The rest, as they say, is (near future) history.

PLAYA Screenwriter’s Residency Awarded to Two Projects

This year’s PLAYA Screenwriter’s Residency Award has been granted to two projects and three writers – David Poulshock and his project “Captain Jack” and KatMeow García & Rebeca Alamo González for their project “Dance and Resist.” Each project team will receive an up to two week residency at PLAYA Summer Lake and a $1000 stipend to develop their stories and scripts deep within the inspirational Oregon Outback.

This year’s award was open to Oregon Resident filmmakers, screenwriters and other creative teams  to develop and write a narrative project with a “historic” theme that is set in the Northwest while the story itself was to focus on people, cultures, traditions, events or communities that are not traditionally covered or heard from.
