World Premiere of “The Weather Outside”

PORTLAND, Oregon (September 19, 2012) – “The Weather Outside”, produced by Polluted Pictures in association with Wooden Frame Productions, will have its World Premiere as part of  The Eugene International Film Festival at 7 PM on October 19th, 2012 at the Regal Valley River Center Stadium 15 & IMAX  in Eugene, Oregon.

“The Weather Outside” was the second of three feature films shot in 2011 from Wooden Frame Productions that utilized the Oregon state iOPIF rebate program which provides rebates of 20% of goods and services and 10% of Oregon labor for films produced by Oregon filmmakers who spend a minimum of $75,000 but not more than $750,000 on their project. Oregon Vendor Spotlight: Local Nursery Supply Chain Fulfills “Grimm’s” Green Needs

The second video in our Oregon Film Summer Interns’ “Oregon Vendor Spotlight” series (above) follows the local supply chain that is utilized to provide the unique greenery needed for NBC’s “Grimm.”

In order to provide the trees, bushes and plants that help create “Grimm’s” eerie atmosphere, the show’s greensman, Charlie Carlsen, looks to local nurseries such as Dennis’ 7 Dees and Cascadian. They provide greenery from their stock and, in turn, activate their supply chain of other nurseries in the area to help meet the increased demand.

This summer, our team of Oregon Film student interns (Sabrina, Justen, and Jake) embarked on a project to interview some of the local vendors that have recently experienced an increase in business due to the film and television industry. By the end of the summer, the interns had produced eight short videos for their “Oregon Vendor Spotlight” series. We will be rolling out the videos over the next four weeks. “Center of Gravity” in the 20th Raindance Film Festival in London

Portland based director Steven Richter’s feature film “Center of Gravity” is in the official selection for the 20th Raindance Film Festival in London (Sept.26 – Oct.7 2012).

The film was shot in five days in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with two cameras, a minimal crew and budget, starring Brazilian actors Julio Machado and Ana Carolina Lima. Based on a story by American writer David Plante, “Center of Gravity” deals with universal questions about love and our expectations toward the beloved, the thin line that simultaneously divides and unites one another. Top Gear USA – Can You Get From Portland to San Francisco On Just One Tank Of Gas?

We will find out tonight if it’s possible to drive from Portland to San Fransisco on just one tank of gas. Oregon Produced House of Last Things Gains Distribution

August 28, 2012— Double Dutch International announced today that it has acquired the worldwide rights to the psychological thriller House of Last Things. The film– written, directed and produced in Portland,Oregon by Michael Bartlett– stars RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad), Lindsey Haun (True Blood) and Blake Berris (Days of our Lives). Cinematographer is Ken Kelsch (Bad Lieutenant, Big Night, Desert Flower). The world premiere festival has yet to be set.

“This is a film that grabs you and takes you through some exciting twists and turns,” said Jason Möring, President of Double Dutch.

Cell Count News

 

PORTLAND, Oregon (August 22, 2012)  The feature film “Cell Count” premiered on May 20th at the Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Festival in Brazil and plays at the Macabro Film Festival, Montreal HorrorFest, Sitges Film Festival, and Celluloid Screams festival later this year.  Today marks the 6th film festival acceptance from the 13th Annual Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Film Festival in Argentina.   The BARS is supported by the National Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, sponsored by the Film Museum of the City of Buenos Aires and declared of cultural interest by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.   Continue reading... “Cell Count News”

Art of Makeup New Class Schedule and Halloween Workshop

Art of Makeup, School of Professional Makeup Artistry, has added both evening classes and daytime classes to the 2012 fall/winter schedule. The new dates are:

Evening Schedule:  September 24 – November 9   from 6:30pm – 10pm

Daytime Schedule:  October 29 – December 14    from 9am – 3pm

Classes can be taken individually or as an entire course

HALLOWEEN WORKSHOP with Christina Kortum on September 9, 2012 from 1-4pm  Cost is $85 including supplies.

Governor Kitzhaber Declares Today “ParaNorman Day”

 

 

Showing his continued support of Oregon’s film and television industry, Governor John Kitzhaber issued an official Proclamation today declaring August 17, 2012 “ParaNorman Day”.  Below is the language of the proclamation.

 

 

 

WHEREAS:          Oregon has a longstanding and honorable tradition of encouraging the entertainment arts and the abundantly talented individuals whose creative work delights, informs and educates our citizens; and

WHEREAS:          The handcrafted, stop-motion animated 3d movie “ParaNorman” is the second feature film produced by Oregon-based  animation studio LAIKA; and

WHEREAS:          LAIKA is deeply committed to creating an environment that supports and celebrates the art and artistry of animated filmmaking; and

WHEREAS:          The lead character Norman is a young boy of ingenuity, empathy, courage and optimism and thus embodies character traits Oregonians hold most dear; and

WHEREAS:          “ParaNorman” was produced entirely in Oregon and will be released nationwide by Focus Features on August 17, 2012;

 NOW,               

THEREFORE:     I, John Kitzhaber, Governor of the State of Oregon, hereby proclaim August 17, 2012 to be

PARANORMAN DAY

in Oregon and encourage all Oregonians to join in this observance.
