DisOrient Asian American Film Festival Returns in Feb-Mar

The 18th annual DisOrient Asian American Film Festival of Oregon is a hybrid festival with an exceptional line-up of both live and virtual film screenings as well as in-person filmmaker Q&A’s. All live screenings will be at the Art House in Eugene.

We launch our 2023 season with a Preview Screening on Feb. 24 (live) and Feb. 25-26 (virtual)! Confluence Announces Filmmaker Fellows Program

Confluence is pleased to announce the Confluence Filmmaker Fellows program in partnership with Oregon Film and the Creative Opportunity Program. Three Indigenous video artists with a cultural connection to Oregon will receive cash prizes to support a film project they are developing: one for $5,000 and two for $2,500. (Partially) #oregonmade “65” Sees A Release Date Of March 10th

Sony Pictures Entertainment’s US release of (partly) #oregonmade “65” is set for March 10th. Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (“A Quiet Place”) wrote, directed, and produced the film. The cast is comprised of Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt, Chloe Coleman, and Nika King. It was filmed at several Oregon locations such as Gold Beach, Powers, Agness, Brookings, and Coos Bay, as well as Louisiana and Ireland among other locations. The logline reads, “Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills (Driver) and the only other survivor, Koa (Ariana Greenblatt), must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic fight to survive. “You Go Girl!” – the fourth annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant– “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” winner (OAFG21) screened at Sundance 2022 in the U.S. Live Action Short Films, and also the Oregon Shakespeare Festival O site. Filmmakers, Shariffa Ali, Kamilah Long, Courtney Williams, and Adrian Aleas’ short film tells the story of Audrey, a New York City comedian who can make a joke of any situation, facing a staggering challenge in the beautiful mountains of Oregon. Daisy Ridley, (Star Wars prequel trilogy) recently shared her thoughts on the movie Sometimes I Think About Dying” and her experiences filming in Oregon. Ridley portrays Frances, a young woman dealing with anxiety and despair, in this thought-provoking movie that recently premiered in competition at Sundance. During the filming, Ridley spent time in Astoria and on the Oregon Coast, and she had nothing but good things to say about these locations.

Cinema Unbound Awards Return on June 22

The Portland Art Museum’s cutting-edge media arts organization, PAM CUT // Center for an Untold Tomorrow, is hosting the 4th annual Cinema Unbound Awards on June 22, 2023, highlighting artists, innovators and leaders who are not content to be contained.

The 2023 celebration will include a transformative meal conceived of by Portland’s most celebrated chef, Gregory Gourdet, whose restaurant, Kann, was named the Best Restaurant in America by Esquire and one of the top 50 restaurants in America by The New York Times.
