Doxx Magazine Focuses On Women Documentary Filmmakers

Doxx Magazine is a new digital publication dedicated to women documentarians. The online hub is a designated and creative place for the stories, work, and thoughts of female and non-binary nonfiction media makers. To enrich the local and national documentary communities, the magazine will archive filmmakers from Oregon and beyond.

Each issue will include interviews, profiles of historic documentary legends, field notes (submit here), industry-relevant articles, and a watch-list. A short teaser issue was launched last week, and includes conversations with Directors Lana Wilson (After Tiller, The Departure) and Amy Nicholson (Beauty School, Muskrat Lovely, The Zipper, Pickle). Oregon Locations Shine In “Lean on Pete”

Lean On Pete” has been collecting some great reviews, and has already premiered internationally in the Venice International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, and also screened in the US at Telluride.   Writer-Director, Andrew Haigh  (“45 Years”) adapted Willy Vlautin’s 2010 novel of the same name, that shot in Oregon last summer.  The #OregonMade feature made great use of locations, shooting in NE , and SE Portland, at the Portland Meadows race track, a family ranch in Molalla, and out in eastern Oregon in Burns, Hines, and at the Harney County fairgrounds.  Continue reading... “Oregon Locations Shine In “Lean on Pete””

“Portlandia” Wraps After 8 Successful Seasons – Celebration And Plaque Dedication For City Hall

A celebration of Cast and Crew, gathered at Arbor Lodge Park today. Cast, Crew, Producers, and city officials gathered to celebrate 8 successful seasons of IFC’s and Broadway Video’s “Portlandia” shooting in Portland. The unveiling and dedication of a “Portlandia” plaque was then gifted to City Hall. The plaque will be placed near a specially commissioned “put a bird on it” bench on the third floor of Portland City Hall, outside the Mayor’s office. My name is Steve West and I am new to “The Confluence” but not new to making film in Oregon. I am located in La Grande and for the last fourteen years we have produced episodic adventure based outdoor television for The Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, and other networks. However in the last two years we have started a more well rounded media house with documentary projects, commercials, and producing television for other people and companies.

Fullbright’s Long-Awaited “Tacoma” Is Released

The Oregon, independent game developer, Fullbright, has announced that their latest console game,  “Tacoma”, has been released on Linux, Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Xbox One, and will be released August 2.  This latest game comes as a follow up to their popular, and multi- award-winning game, “Gone Home“ (set in 1990’s Oregon) that became an indie hit.

“Tacoma” takes place in 2088 and is set on a space station of the same name.
