The 9th Annual DisOrient Asian American Film Festival returns to the Bijou Art Cinemas in Eugene, Oregon on April 10-13, 2014. DisOrient celebrates new, independent films about Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) that showcase AAPI writers, directors, actors, and artists who deliver brilliant scripts, creative animation, diverse casts, and fresh storytelling.
DisOrient 2014 will be welcoming 25 attending filmmakers and actors from Oregon, New York, LA, San Francisco, Mid-West USA, Hawaii, Canada, and Iran.
The 2014 DisOrient Festival will hold its first ever Social Justice Special Event on Thursday, April 10 featuring the Academy Award Nominated documentary “The Act of Killing,” which records the shocking memories of paramilitary officers who proceeded to eradicate Indonesian Chinese during the 1960’s. Reese Witherspoon (“Walk The Line, Mud”) traveled the entire length of Oregon from southern and central regions, up to the Gorge and Portland metro while shooting (author), Cheryl Strayed’s, NY Times best-seller novel, “Wild”.
