WORKING LUNCH Short Film by Shilpa Sunthankar to have Portland Premiere

Portland, Oregon – December 3, 2018 – The much anticipated short film, WORKING LUNCH, by Portland-based Director and Producer, Shilpa Sunthankar, is set to have the Portland Premiere on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at The Whitsell Auditorium. Director Shilpa Sunthankar will be in attendance.The film previously had a successful world premiere at the 19th Annual Filmi: Toronto’s South Asian Film Festival and was selected as part of the 2018 Fall Screening Series by New Filmmakers, New York.

The Ashland Independent Film Festival is expanding its year-round programming with a new series, Best of the Fests, which will offer audiences a second chance to see some of the best and most requested films from the most recent AIFF, along with other films generating excitement on the film festival circuit. The series will launch with a “Best of the Fests Weekend” September 21-23 at the Varsity Theatre in Ashland and the Collaborative Theatre Project in Medford and continue with screenings at Eugene’s Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in October and November. Oregon’s International Bohemian Film Festival Announces ‘Big Sonia’ as Grand Prize Winner

The winning filmmaker, Leah Warshawski and her Oregon-raised animator, Dawn Norton, received a $3,000 grand prize as the Best Film. The winner aims to take the proceeds to launch high school curricula about overcoming the obstacles of our past and becoming stronger.

COTTAGE GROVE, ORE., 18 AUGUST 2018 – “Big Sonia” won the overall $3,000 Grand Prize at this weekend’s inaugural Bohemian Film Festival. Northwest Exposure

As part of the 45th Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival, the Northwest Film Center is excited to launch the scriptwriting contest Northwest Exposure.

Short narrative script submissions (10 page max) will be accepted through August 20, 2018. 7 scripts will be selected to be read by professional actors at a table reading during the 45th Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival (Oct 31 – Nov 5). A panel of guest judges will choose the winning script, which will then be awarded a prize package made possible by the Portland film community to support the production of the winning script. Portland Post-Production Film Grant Now Open

The Portland Film Office, in partnership with Oregon Made Creative Foundation (OMCF), invites local filmmakers to apply for funding designed to encourage the completion of a local feature-length project and position producers to build towards larger, more resourced productions.

The Post-Production Film Grant Program supports the professional development of small, local filmmakers by providing funds for activities including sound design, scoring, editing, color correction, closed captioning, VFX, and music clearances using local post-production houses.
