[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/23325702[/vimeo]

In addition to this week’s announcement of their two new feature film projects, Oregon’s LAIKA animation studio also rolled out a newly designed website including  the beautiful video embedded above.  The video provides unique insight into who LAIKA is, and how they combine a classic hand-made artisan craft with cutting edge technology to achieve spectacular results.  And best of all, they are doing it all right here in Oregon!

We think this exemplifies what the storytellers of our local film and media industry aspire to do; to build on our knowledge and experience from the past while embracing the technology and promise of the future.  Continue reading... “Hand-made in Oreogn: LAIKA’s New Website and Featured Video”

World Premiere of Wake Before I Die

We are very proud to announce the World Premiere of the feature film Wake Before I Die on May 15th at McMenamins Bagdad Theater in Portland. The screening is FREE and attendance will be based on a first come first serve basis. This HD screening is also ALL AGES though the film, when rated, will most likely be a PG-13 rating.

Wake Before I Die was the first film to utilize the i-OPIF program which provides rebates of 20% of goods and services and 10% of Oregon labor for films produced by Oregon filmmakers who spend a minimum of $75,000 but not more than $750,000 on their project. Video Footage of the NYC Premiere of Portlandia

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/19054260[/vimeo]

It was a great night at the Edison Ballroom Wednesday night as IFC put together a fantastic party for “Portlandia”.  The space was decked out in everything Portland – Douglas Fir trees, cocktail tables with bicycle tires, and of course plenty of birds!  Local winery Argyle Wines had their 2007 Pinot featured and Rogue Ales was there serving their Dead Guy Ale.  Everyone that attended also got one of the signature “Portlandia” bottles.  I think the entire SNL cast was there along with Lorne Michaels, Heather Graham, Kyle MacLaclan, and “Kenneth” from “30 Rock”.  Continue reading... “Video Footage of the NYC Premiere of Portlandia”

I went to the recent “Live Wire Radio” show which plays on OPB on Saturday Nights.  They recorded two shows – one that will air on Christmas Night and one that will air in January.  The January show features Carrie Brownstein and Gus Van Sant (as well as a good skit with Carrie about “Portlandia”).  The Christmas show featured singer/songwriter Thao Nguyen who played this song that night.  It brought the house down.  A gift card Christmas – a true 21st century Christmas song.  Continue reading... “A Christmas Gift from “Live Wire Radio””
