7 Daytime Emmy Nominations For “Trinkets” & 5 For Local Oregon Crews!

#OregonMade “Trinkets“, received 7 Day Time Emmy nominations and 5 of those are for local Oregon Crews and individual crew members.

This Netflix series season portrayed a grieving teen who, “finds an unexpected connection with two classmates at her new high school after they all land in the same Shoplifters Anonymous group.

Bend Composer, Chris Thomas, Wins HMMA Award For Outstanding Original Score – Short Film Category

Recently announced by the Hollywood Music in Media Awards that Chris Thomas, Bend composer, and Central Oregon Symphony  cellist – has won the Outstanding Original Score – Short Film award for the live-action short, “Imagine Symphony Live.”  The film is set in Oregon and was produced and directed by Evan Sigvaldsen.  The film depicts the story of a child who, while attending a live orchestra performance, is so inspired by the music that he begins to daydream he is outside exploring the majesty of the Oregon landscape – the magic of the music heightening his experience. Oscar Nomination For Skye Fitzgerald’s “The Hunger Ward”

Oregonian, Skye Fitzgerald, (now based in Portland and grew up in Eastern Oregon) has an impressive collection of documentaries under his belt including, “Lifeboat” which was nominated for an Oscar in the Documentary Short Subject category 2019.  Fitzgerald’s latest documentary, “The Hunger Ward” just garnered a nomination for “Best documentary short subject” in the 93rd Oscar lineup.  The documentary, set against the backdrop of a forgotten war, takes a startling look at the human-caused famine in Yemen and follows health care workers as they work to save the lives of hunger-stricken children in two therapeutic feeding centers. Ashland & Portland Again On MovieMaker’s List – “Best Places To Live & Work 2021”

MovieMaker magazine published their 2021 rankings for “Best Places to Live and Work as a Filmmaker” – both Portland and Ashland made the list for the Large City and Small City categories respectively.

Here’s what they said about Portland: ” famous for all things handcrafted and artisanal, and that extends to filmmaking. The New York Film Critics Circle announces A24’s period drama, “First Cow as their “Best Film” choice for 2020. (Read more here from Daily Variety). “First Cow” shot entirely on location in Oregon last year at; Oxbow Regional Park, Sauvie Island, Portland, Milo McIver State Park, San Salvador State Beach, and Elkton among other locations.

Outdoor Adventure Film Grant 2020 – Winning Team At Work

The third annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” (OAFG20) announces the winning application – “On Any Oregon Sunday.”

Despite the current, global situation with the advance of Covid-19, we feel good about being able to award this grant to a small team of independent filmmakers, Kanani Koster, Janie Faison and Tiffany Lindquist, as in a small way it is helping enable this winning team to be able to work on this worthwhile project.
