The film is labor of love from Vancouver, Washington filmmaker Beth Harrington that digs deep into the story of the roots of country music with exceptional archival footage and one of the very last interviews with Johnny Cash. Lindstrom’s “Mothering Inside” – Second Film in Oregon Film[Makers] Screening Series

Following on from our successful screening of “Wild” at the Salem Cinema last December, we are pleased to be starting a new series of free screenings in Salem made by, or featuring, Oregon filmmakers and subjects which we are calling Oregon Film[Makers].

Clackamas Community College Partners with Portland Film Festival

andyPortland Film Festival (September 1st – 7th, 2015) is partnering with Clackamas Community College’s (CCC) Digital Media Communications (DMC) program for the 2015 festival season.

Led by director Andy Mingo, the DMC program has the led the state in film production experience in Oregon for its students. It is the only higher education program with state-of-the-art tools including Oculus Rift Virtual Reality devices and digital cinema cameras, like those used in locally produced, “Wild,” with Reese Witherspoon. Oregon Film Office and Local Scouts Get LMGA Award Nominations

The Second Annual Location Managers Guild of America (LMGA) Awards announced the finalists this week.  The Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television, as well as local scouts, Crofton Diack, Mike Floyd, Alissa Desler and Lori Allen have been nominated for consideration for  Location Managers Guild of America  Awards.  Oregon Film for the “exemplary work on WILD“, Diack and Floyd for Outstanding Locations in a Single Commercial (Nissan Altima, “Migration” – see below)[youtube]http://youtu.be/nlUDk2qkV5I[/youtube] and Desler and Allen for Outstanding Locations in a Commercial Campaign  (Subaru Outback). Ashland Named #1 Town in the US to Live and Work as a Filmmaker by MovieMaker Magazine

This year, Ashland, Oregon took the top spot in MovieMaker’s Best Places to Live and Work contest Town category (for populations under 100,000). The award acknowledges Ashland’s focus on the arts, great quality of life, beautiful surroundings, and most importantly, its commitment to film and media activity as a bonafide industry in this community of 20,000. Director & Educator Andy Mingo

Andy Mingo is a Portland-based director/producer. He gained recognition as several of his films were included at national and international film festivals and screenings. His most recent film, ‘Romance’ was adapted from a story by ‘Fight Club’ author, Chuck Palahniuk. ‘Romance’ made its world premiere at the 2012 Raindance Film Festival and went on to screen at Cinequest, the Seattle True Independent Film Festival, and the 2013 Portland Film Festival. The Oregon Film Annual Governor’s Awards

There was a big turnout at the Eastside Exchange Ballroom last night for the Oregon Film’s Annual Governor’s Awards. Kicking off the event was Gordon Sondland (Oregon Film Board Chair, founder and chairman of Provenance Hotels, and co-founder of the merchant bank Aspen Capital) who introduced the evening and then actor Russell Hornsby (“Grimm“), who then declared himself now a Portland local! Governor’s Office of Film & TV Has New Executive Director

The Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television Board announced today the appointment of Tim Williams as Executive Director. Williams comes to the job after a lengthy search by the Oregon Film Board and plans to officially start in Oregon Film’s Portland office by October 1st.

Previously based in London and New York, and now living in Los Angeles, Williams has a long history in film and TV production and finance throughout the US and internationally. He recently worked for Fox Searchlight during preparations for their upcoming film “Wild” – which shot on more locations throughout Oregon than any other feature film.
