Fox Searchlight unveiled the #LifeisWILD contest this week as a headliner in promoting Reese Witherspoon‘s WILD. Oregon Film was approached by Fox Searchlight to help put this contest together as an interactive and creative way to bring attention to the movie, and in so doing, the Pacific Crest Trail, and Oregon simultaneously. Oregon Film collaborated with Travel Oregon to pull together a fantastic Grand Prize package of a week long trip to Oregon for the winner and a friend. My name is Francesca. I am from Italy and I am a student at Bocconi University. I am studying Economics for the Arts, and my passion for cinema brought me to become an intern at the Oregon Film Office this summer.

As an intern and a student, I will have the opportunity to attend a special event: the screening of “Anonymous,” Roland Emmerich’s latest movie. Whether it’s the thriving independent music scene, live theater, or a combination of multiple creative disciplines, there is no doubt Oregon is a thriving base of creative expression. According to the Oregon Arts Commission over 60,000 jobs in Oregon are directly related to the creative economy. That may not sound like a lot of jobs but when you figure that Oregon has about 1/10 of the population of California, it’s a large section of the total workforce in Oregon. Short Film Shooting in Ashland

A local production team led by New York University graduate-turned-Ashland-based screenwriter Monica Lynn Cortez is shooting a film placing Ashland’s sister city of Guanajuato, Mexico, at center stage. The project also has help from SOU’s Digital Cinema students and a star-studded local cast featuring Oregon Shakespeare Festival actors.

Filming started Friday morning at the Lithia Park pickleball courts, continuing Saturday, including at Hannon Library, with plans to shoot at SOU’s Digital Media Center over the weekend. Filming is slated to wrap up by mid-November. Continue reading... “Short Film Shooting in Ashland”

Ashland, Oregon – The Ashland Independent Film Festival is excited to announce the full selection of musical and cinematic events scheduled for its live & outdoor festival running June 24-28 at venues in Ashland and Medford.

At Scienceworks Hands-On Museum, viewers will watch films projected on a large outdoor screen in the field facing the building. At the Walkabout Brewing Company in Medford, viewers will fill the spacious backyard, facing the big screen and stage. Each screening at these two venues will be accompanied by live musical performers, food carts and beverages.
