Ashland Independent Film Festival to Announce Full Line-up at Festival Preview Night and Offers a Sneak Peek at 10 Highlights

The Ashland Independent Film Festival will announce its 2017 film and event lineup at their Festival Preview Night on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at the SOU Music Recital Hall in Ashland. This is the first chance to see clips from festival films, pick up the Pocket Guide, and get insider information on special guests and new events for AIFF2017. This event is FREE, and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Winner Announcement!

Ashland local, Sean Nipper, has won the Samsung NX1 Sweepstakes.  Sean got his start in theatre and educational films in Ashland, southern Oregon.  He then moved to the bay area, and opened a small production company.  Nipper recently returned to southern Oregon to raise his family, where he now runs his new company, Reel House Films.

We are looking for storytellers for the LAUNCH Student Film Competition with short films that are innovative,  creative, original, inspiring, relevant, compelling, entertaining, thought-provoking, funny, and unique.

Do you have a great story to share?  Here’s what you need to know:

  • No entry fee—it’s FREE!
  • Films need to be 5 minutes or under.
  • Genres include animation, claymation, documentary, or narrative—it’s up to you!
  • Five categories: grades K-5, 6-8, 9-12, college undergrads, and PridePrize.

Ashland Independent Film Festival A Success

The 14th annual Ashland Independent Film Festival took place over the week end in southern Oregon.  AIF gives special focus to small independent features and shorts and always includes Oregon projects.

During the 5 days of screenings and events, 97 films were presented, as well as many workshops, Q-and-A’s and “talk-back” sessions.  All of the screenings were well attended at this packed festival.

Ashland Independent Film Festival Opens April 9th

Ashland Named #1 Town in the US to Live and Work as a Filmmaker by MovieMaker Magazine

This year, Ashland, Oregon took the top spot in MovieMaker’s Best Places to Live and Work contest Town category (for populations under 100,000). The award acknowledges Ashland’s focus on the arts, great quality of life, beautiful surroundings, and most importantly, its commitment to film and media activity as a bonafide industry in this community of 20,000. “SHIVER” based on the acclaimed thriller by New York Time , bestselling author, Brian Harper will have a Southern Oregon Premiere at Coming Attractions Theatres, VARSITY THEATRE  in Ashland, Or on Friday, September 13. Ashland Independent Film Festival – Redwood Highway to Premiere at Festival

With AIFF just a little more than one month away, we wanted to update you on some new info.  A full schedule of events should be up on AIFF’s website in a few weeks but here’s what has been announced to date.

Ashland Independent Film Festival announces eMerge Transmedia Showcase for the 2013 Festival

Ashland, Ore.—The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) today announced a multi-part transmedia showcase to be unveiled as part of the 12th annual festival, April 4 – 8, 2013 in Ashland. Created to showcase new forms of digital and interactive storytelling, the program has been developed in collaboration with Southern Oregon University’s Emerging Media and Digital Arts (EMDA) program, and is sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Film and Television, Project A, the Portland Incubator Experiment (P.I.E.), and Second Story Interactive Studios.
