Solar Punk Film Festival Open for Submissions

Solar Punk Film Festival (SPFF) is a new festival in Portland, OR hosted by Bridge City Media with a screening in June 2025.

SPFF invites filmmakers, visionaries, and changemakers to share short films embody the Solar Punk philosophy: a hopeful, solution-driven outlook on environmental and societal futures. Short Film Shooting in Ashland

A local production team led by New York University graduate-turned-Ashland-based screenwriter Monica Lynn Cortez is shooting a film placing Ashland’s sister city of Guanajuato, Mexico, at center stage. The project also has help from SOU’s Digital Cinema students and a star-studded local cast featuring Oregon Shakespeare Festival actors.

Filming started Friday morning at the Lithia Park pickleball courts, continuing Saturday, including at Hannon Library, with plans to shoot at SOU’s Digital Media Center over the weekend. Filming is slated to wrap up by mid-November. Continue reading... “Short Film Shooting in Ashland”

Finding Space for Independent Cinema

When my husband Davon and I started production on our film, A Public Space, we had little idea of what to expect. The film centers on the fate of the now defunct College Hill Reservoir in Eugene, Oregon, and explores the larger significance of public space. While Davon is an accomplished editor, this was our first filmmaking collaboration, and although we deeply believed in the idea, we weren’t sure how it would be received in the community.

KIFF2024: 12th Annual Klamath Independent Film Festival

The Klamath Independent Film Festival continues its run as the leading all-genre, Oregon-centric film festival, presented for the fifth year both in-person and on-demand/livestreaming!

For the 2024 rendition we continue to showcase the best in independent Oregon filmmaking at the historic Ross Ragland Theater. We plan to continue our hybrid online festival presentation and opening night gala honoring one iconic Made-in-Oregon film. The ever-popular custom awards designed by local artists in the Southern Cascade Woodcrafters Guild will also return in 2024, and the second year of the prestigious James Ivory Award for career achievement in film with Oregon roots. OPIF Tax Credit Auction to be Held Sept 23 – 27, 2024

The Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF) annual tax credit auction will take place starting at 9a on Monday, September 23, 2024 and run for 5 days until 5p on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Each year, Oregon Film and the Oregon Department of Revenue auction off $20M of Oregon state tax credits in $500 increments at a minimum bid of 90% of face value.
