Atlas Obscura and Land Rover Explore Central Oregon

Athlete and sports caster, Jessica Mendoza, recently appeared in a commerical for Atlas Obscura and Land Rover that featured beautiful Central Oregon. The Central Oregon film office worked with the production company finding locations, crew and helped with permitting at locations such as the National Forest, Clear Lake and Sahalie Falls.

TAG! Queer Shorts Festival 2022

TAG Queer Shorts Festival

TAG! Queer Shorts Festival is back at full length (albeit virtual…) for its 2022 run.

Featuring 60 films from 20 different countries, the TAG! program highlights the work of both established and emerging creators with a special focus on intersectional queer storytelling from BIPOC directors. The 2022 lineup offers 6 all-new thematic blocks ranging from queer origin stories in The Source to exotic and fanciful pieces in Otherworldly. Blocks premiere each evening at 6 pm from February 21-26 with encore screenings from February 27-March 6.

#OregonMade The Archaeology Channel International Film Festival

Film screenings for the nineteenth annual edition of TAC International Film Festival, Lane County’s longest running film festival, will take place May 12-15, 2022, at The Shedd Institute in Eugene, Oregon. Having received 77 entries from 21 countries, we believe that this year’s selections are some of the best films in the world for the cultural heritage genre. What once was primarily an exhibition of film has become a meeting place for those with stories to tell and audiences to reach.

Oregon Film is Hiring!

Due to a retirement, Oregon Film is seeking a Project Manager to begin work through our Portland office in March of 2022.

We are looking for someone who has strong relational, communication, and research skills. The ideal applicant has the demonstrated ability to balance multiple complex problems, details and personalities.

This position is tasked with managing projects, producers and fielding inquiries from parties that reach out to Oregon Film about production work in the state. The Project Manager handles incoming locations and permit queries and then coordinates the distribution of information, contacts, photos and “project lookbooks” to interested producers, productions and locations personnel.

#OregonMade “Pinocchio” Coming To Netflix Later This Year

Netflix has released an official teaser trailer for the upcoming #OregonMade “Pinocchio” directed by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson.  This stop-motion animated musical features Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, and Gregory Mann, and other cast includes Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman, Christoph Waltz, and Tilda Swinton. “Pinocchio” is a co-production of del Toro, The Jim Henson Company, and ShadowMachine (Portland). ShadowMachine also created the popular Bojack Horseman and The Shivering Truth among other shows.

#OregonMade Film Series at The Hollywood Theatre: “Zero Effect”

Bill Pullman plays Daryl Zero, the self-described “greatest private investigator in the world,” with Ben Stiller as his lawyer side-kick trying to keep up with paramedic Kim Dickens. Portland plays a prominent role in this 1990’s caper centered around Timber Baron Ryan O’Neal having “lost his keys” and worrying about the contents of a safe deposit box. This is the first film from director Jake Kasdan who started out his career in small roles on his Dad’s (Lawrence) sets before moving on to films like “Walk Hard” and “Bad Teacher.”

American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA): Small & Independent Community Movie Theater Program Grant

The first phase of applications for Business Oregon’s ARPA Live Event Recovery grant program will go live next Monday, January 24, at 8 am.
The Small and Independent Community Movie Theaters Program is administered by Business Oregon, the state’s economic development agency. Business Oregon has been allocated American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Funds for the purpose of supporting small and independent community movie theaters negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program will provide up to $5 million in grant assistance to qualifying movie theaters that have experienced or are experiencing financial hardships directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Travel Oregon’s 2022 Scholarship To Support College students & Black, Indigenous, & People of Color

Travel Oregon has opened up scholarship opportunities to attend the 2022 Governor’s Conference on Tourism specifically to encourage attendance from the BIPOC community.

The Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism (ORGC) is the premier educational and information-sharing event in the state for tourism, hospitality, and economic development professionals. The 2022 ORGC will take place in person on March 14-16 in Sunriver, Oregon.

With a commitment to applying a racial equity lens to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in Oregon’s tourism industry, Travel Oregon is proud to offer a 2022 scholarship program to support college students and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in attending the ORGC for the first time.

Oregon native Andrew Jacob Brown, an actor/producer with Confound Productions, has just released “Family First,” their 3rd Independent feature film on Amazon!
“Family First” was the Marshall family motto until a wife was murdered and a daughter disappeared.  After months of searching, Keeno Marshall returns home to find his brothers lost in the world of underground gambling and sports betting.  When he discovers who may have kidnapped his daughter, Keeno moves mountains to try to find her, and not even his brothers can stand in his way.
