Roy W. Dean 2016 Summer Film Grant

Got a unique film project that contributes to society? The Roy W. Dean Film Grant is looking to award its grant to one that fits that description. This year’s winner receives $3,500 cash and $30,000 in donated film products and services to help complete their film. Films can be documentaries, short films, features, TV or web series. Deadline for submission is June 30th, 2016.

In addition to the cash prize, the winner receives a 1TB G-Drive ev ATC with Thunderbolt in Watertight Rugged case from grant donor G-Technology, $1,000 in consultation, marketing material creation, design, and marketing strategizing from Smart Girl Productions.,

Historic UO Alumni Filmmakers Receive Grant To Preserve Their Work

The National Film Preservation Foundation announced their latest group of historic films that will receive funding to preserve them for record. Among them are; the “Luther Cressman Field Work Films” (1938 – 1954), an important documentation of work done by the UO archaeologist, Luther Cressman; and a feature (1953) by UO alumnus, James Blue, that won a Critic’s prize at Cannes (1962).

Outdoor Screenings in State Parks

Oregon State Parks, The Hollywood Theatre, Travel Oregon and Oregon Film have partnered together to bring themed outdoor screenings into state parks this summer. The first one up: Christopher Guest’s hilarious BEST IN SHOW at the Dog Park in Molalla River SP. There will be festivities and even a doggie fashion show – so bring your best friend, your own bottle and settle in for a great evening. Tickets are free but need to be reserved in advance. The Falls:Covenant of Grace, the third installment of The Falls series hopes to film in Portland this summer. It is a trilogy written and directed by Jon Garcia about two gay Mormon men and the struggles of LGBT individuals of faith. Adult Swim & Hinge Team Up For Toonami

It’s been nearly a year since Adult Swim Toonami team tapped Hinge‘s Portland-based studio to produce show bumpers and the season finale of Toonami Intruder II, where the show’s venerable host TOM, and his AI co-host SARA, crash land on an unknown planet to find a new base of operations. The episode had something fun for both the hard core fans (who’ve enjoyed the show since it’s beginnings in 1997) as well as the casual viewers. OPB Music Premieres 2nd “Road Sessions” Series Just In Time For Summer

Beginning today, and for the next 6 Thursdays, look for a new a season of Road Session – different bands on the road in various Oregon State Parks. If you want to hear some of the bands featured live (Performers include The Weather Machine, Sama Dams, and Haley Heyndericks), check out Pints in the Pearl this Saturday, 12-9pm.

“Lean On Pete” Shooting In Oregon

Screen Shot 2016-05-26 at 4.19.44 PM “Lean On Pete“, Willy Vlautin’s novel, adapted into a screenplay by writer-director, Andrew Haigh (“Looking”) will film in Oregon this summer.

“Lean on Pete” tells the story of a 15-year-old boy named Charley Thompson, who, as Vlautin’s website explains, is “left to fend for himself by his wayward single father. Charley wanders to Portland Meadows racetrack one day and finds work with a surly, washed up horse trainer. He befriends an aging quarter horse named Lean on Pete, and before long, Charley and Pete find themselves alone in an unforgiving landscape scattered with a vivid cast of characters, desperate situations, and glimmers of hope.”
