The OPB Independent Film Festival is this August

The OPB Independent Film Festival airs weeknights at 10 p.m., starting August 10.

OPB is celebrating the power of independent films with the OPB Independent Film Festival all month long on OPB TV.

Each weeknight at 10 p.m. from August 10-24, enjoy a documentary film from the POV and Independent Lens libraries. The festival wraps up with the annual OPB series Oregon Lens from August 24-28, which showcases the diverse work of local filmmakers.

The Goonies 30th Anniversary Celebration – Wrap Up

“The Goonies” 30th Anniversary Celebration was held in Astoria, Oregon from June 4 to 7, 2015 – just a short two weeks ago as of this writing. We enjoyed a successful event overall, bringing a nice economic boost to our community to kick-off the summer season. This is our third anniversary celebration to host, starting in 2005 with the 20th. Attendees come from all across the US and Canada, and we had a representative from every continent except for Antarctica at the Celebration.

“American Pickers” To Shoot In Oregon

The “American Pickers” series will be filming in Oregon later this year.  Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz will be cruising the state looking for vintage memorabilia and antiques for this documentary series (History) to showcase their valuable “picks” from unlikely places.

JULY 28, 2015 (PORTLAND, ORE) Animated content production studio HouseSpecial (formerly LAIKA/house) President Lourri Hammack announced a new partnership with Kelly Salmon, owner of the independent New York-based repping firm Hunt & Gather, for Northeast representation for all animated content.

“Homecoming”, Written By Oregonian, Christi Sperry, Gets Underway In Portland

Local screenwriter, Christi Sperry, will see her dark comedy screenplay, “Homecoming”, begin shooting in Portland at the end of this month.  The cast is comprised of, Lauren Bowles (“True Blood”), Victoria Smurfit (“Once Upon a Time”), Max Ryan (“Death Race”), Michelle Arthur (“Fun With Dick and Jane”), Suleka Mathew (“Da Vinci’s Inquest”) and Kiowa Gordon (“Twilight Saga”).

Los Angeles and Portland July 27, 2015—-The first film under Ted Field’s Radar Pictures overall co-production deal with Filmmaker and Producer Paul Kampf is fast-tracking and confirming it’s cast.

Sasha Roiz (“Grimm”) Appointed To Doernbecher Foundation Board Of Directors

Actor Sasha Roiz (Captain Sean Renard, “Grimm”) has held an interest in helping patients at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital for several years since coming to Portland to shoot the NBC Universal series.  Earlier this year Roiz put together the “Grimm Gives Back” fundraiser, that incredibly, raised $310,000 that was then donated to the “Grimmster Endowment Fund”.

“Significant Mother” Will Premiere August 3 On The CW August

Richard Keith and Erin Cardillo created this new comedy series, set in Portland, that features a restaurant themed backdrop (which Portland plays perfectly) starring, Jonathan Silverman (“Weekend at Bernies”),  Krista Allen (“The LA Complex”), Nathaniel Buzolic (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Emma Fitzpatrick (“The Social Network”). Oregon Live, reported that Cardillo and Keith “really wanted to do a show that had a restaurant element,” “Rich and I are both big foodies. We were looking for a big foodie farm-to-table culture.”
