The Portland Circuit Presents #OregonMade Feature Film Debut: “Phoenix, Oregon”

The OregonMade Creative Foundation has teamed up with four of the best independent cinemas located in all four of the quadrants of Portland, The Northwest Film Center, The Hollywood Theatre, Clinton Street Theater and Cinema 21, to announce the second installment of The Portland Circuit, a program designed to give locally produced, #OregonMade feature length films a short theatrical distribution window in the city. Screenings consist of a four day run, with one night at each theatre, in the four “quadrants” of Portland.

ASHLAND, OR. – The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF), scheduled for April 11-15, 2019, is presenting two special awards this year—the Pride Award to film critic B. Ruby Rich and the Rogue Award to artists Alex Rivera and Cristina Ibarra, directors of the Sundance NEXT Jury and Audience award winner, The Infiltrators.

Laika’s #OregonMade “Missing Link” Out April 12th

LAIKA’s fifth #OregonMade feature, “Missing Link,” starring Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Zach Galifiankis, written and directed by Chris Butler, music composed by Carter Burwell, produced by, Travis Knight and Arianne Sutner, will be released April 12,2019.

Portland’s Living Room Has Some New Art! #OregonMade Community Art Piece Installed At Pioneer Courthouse Square

Since its first filmed project (“The Fisherman’s Bride” released in 1909) Oregon media production has expanded to thousands of movies, television shows, documentaries, animation projects, commercials, music videos, and video games. The industry has kept production crew, talent, and services thriving in Oregon. Coming off Oregon Film office’s 50th-anniversary celebration last year, we wanted to create a lasting acknowledgment of our hard-working production professionals so we teamed up with Open Eye Art to create this community art project. Each individual circle of color you see on the plaques to the left was made by hundreds of Oregonian production professionals that gathered at the OMPA Source Book release party last month and tried their hands at spin art.

IFC’s Renews #OregonMade “Documentary Now!” For Fourth Season!

We are still enjoying season 3 of IFC’s, “Documentary Now!” and just in – we hear that they are renewing for a season 4!

Many talented local crew worked on this current season and we are proud to call it #OregonMade! Season has seen more great guest stars such as; Owen Wilson, Michael Keaton, Cate Blanchett among others, and the series was created by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, John Mulaney and Seth Meyers.

ShadowMachine Collaborates With Guillermo del Toro On “Pinocchio”

ShadowMachine has begun a collaboration with writer-director, Gillermo del Toro (“The Shape of Water”, “Pan’s Labyrinth”) , on a new, and darker, version of the age-old classic, “Pinocchio.”

The Oregon Outdoors & Health Grant – Now Accepting Submissions Through May 17th

Oregonians and visitors are inspired by nature. It feeds our souls and enriches our well-being. We instinctively know that a life spent outdoors, is a life well spent indeed. Not coincidently, it also turns out that taking time off to explore and spend time in nature can heal us.

The successful Outdoors Film Grant project will tell a unique story that correlates the effects of spending time outdoors with better health and well-being.

It’s a Portland first with screenwriter, playwright and teacher Hal Cantor, who has written For Fox Television Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Showtime. Hal will give us his take on the craft and business of writing for television in today’s madcap TV marketplace.

The Outdoor Adventure Film Grant 2019 Announces A Winner!

The second annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” (OAFG19) announces the winning application – “Three Sisters, Three Rivers” – filmmakers Aly Nicklas, Meredith Meeks and Analise Cleopatra, will spend ten days this summer bikepacking 325 miles through some of Oregon’s most iconic landscapes. Beginning in Bend and ending near Roseburg, the film will address both barriers and entry points for access to wilderness—especially for those of us who are raised without a relationship to the outdoors.

#OregonMade Film Series: “The Goonies” on 35mm Print

Kick off your summer in the most perfect way possible: doing the Truffle Shuffle.

Yes, that most iconic of #OregonMade films is back as Goonies Never Say Die and this time we’re watching it as it was meant to be seen – on 35mm film. This screening is both to celebrate and support the new Historic Oregon Film Trail and its official kick-off in January in Astoria recognizing “Kindergarten Cop,” “Short Circuit,” and, yes, “The Goonies.” There’s a lot more signs and a lot more films for us all to celebrate and we hope you will join us for this one.
