It was a great night at the Edison Ballroom Wednesday night as IFC put together a fantastic party for “Portlandia”. The space was decked out in everything Portland – Douglas Fir trees, cocktail tables with bicycle tires, and of course plenty of birds! Local winery Argyle Wines had their 2007 Pinot featured and Rogue Ales was there serving their Dead Guy Ale. Everyone that attended also got one of the signature “Portlandia” bottles. The “Portlandia” east coast premiere is tonight in New York (Edison Ballroom) and is showing a strong Portland presence at 47th and Broadway, right off Times Square. An eclectic variety of Oregon products will make up the goody bags, Rogue Ales created a special “Portlandia” bottle to serve and Portland band, The Thermals, will be playing. All in all, a true Portland experience right there in New York.

According to Rob Owen, during the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour last week, life in Portland was on topic for those journalist attending the “Portlandia” Q & A with Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen. ……… then this year’s 48 Hour Go Green project is inviting filmmakers to SPEAK UP AND CREATE!
Simultaneously, on February 18th, 2011, in cities around the world , 48 Hour Go Green kicks off. Teams will be given a brief and then have only 48 hours to get their films written, shot, edited and through post (you can secure equipment, actors and choose team members ahead of time but must register prior to the kickoff) before finally submitting for competition. On January 14th, we will be having a premier and charity event in conjunction with the new IFC television series Portlandia.
Come out and celebrate the passing of an incredible 2010 and to ring in an even better 2011. Portland film is on the verge of doing some incredible things and we want to celebrate! Music, drinks, and entertainment will be on hand all night long.
We will also be presenting sneak peeks of our current features “The Weather Outside” and “Cell Count.” Make sure you come out to see them because they will not be online nor screened again. Very exciting news from Japan! They’ll be shooting LIVE in Baker City for their big New Years Eve Show. It’s sort of like our Dick Clark’s rockin’ New Years Eve,where they flip to different venues around the country-only the Japan version is flipping to different interesting venues around the world. Yep. That’s right, including us in Oregon. We think this is the first time Japan TV has ever broadcast live from Oregon for any reason.
