Oregon Producer Named Honorary Co-chair of Wisconsin Film Festival

I’m proud to announce that I have been invited to be an honorary co-chair of the 2011 Beloit International Film Festival.  Affectionately known as BIFF, the festival is in its sixth year and has been touted as a “must-attend event” by Moviemaker Magazine showcasing both big releases and indie films. The festival has played host to filmmakers from around the world and, in a short time, has established itself as a truly international festival. The festival will kick off Thursday, February 17th and will continue through until Sunday, February 20th. Continue reading... “Oregon Producer Named Honorary Co-chair of Wisconsin Film Festival”

“Portlandia” Renewed for Second Season

Both TV Squad and the Huffington Post have announced that Portlandia has been renewed for a second season, while still having two of the six season one episodes yet to air.  The network has ordered 10 new half-hour episodes to premiere in January 2012.

“We’re thrilled with the success of Portlandia and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from
our viewers,” IFC’s senior vice president of original programming Debbie DeMontreux said in the announcement. “Fred and Carrie’s humor is perfectly in line with the sensibility and comedic tone of IFC which makes this show such a great fit for us. “Portlandia” – A Tourism Destination

There have been a few naysayers who have stated that “Portlandia” is bad for Portland’s image.  Some have said that the video “The Dream of the 90’s” on YouTube is going to ruin the business climate and dive us deeper into a recession.  Well for all of you who believe this myth and those who think all this fuss is silly, look no further than the Irish Times.  I was sent this article today by Jennifer Yocom from Mayor Adam’s office which is a great tourism piece for Portland and Oregon.   Continue reading... ““Portlandia” – A Tourism Destination”

Blue Like Jazz Shooting in Portland

Over four years ago, Steve Taylor and Ben Pearson sat down and wrote “Blue Like Jazz” a feature based on Donald Miller’s New York Times bestselling memoir by the same name.

We caught up with the crew on the set yesterday (they are shooting one more week in the Portland metro area).  They were excited to be seeing their project finally come to life and the whole funding route really is a great story in and of itself.  After Don Miller announced the project was dead due to lack of funding, a Kickstarter campaign began and after a while they were right there at the top of the leader-board.  Continue reading... “Blue Like Jazz Shooting in Portland”

Video Footage of the NYC Premiere of Portlandia

It was a great night at the Edison Ballroom Wednesday night as IFC put together a fantastic party for “Portlandia”.  The space was decked out in everything Portland – Douglas Fir trees, cocktail tables with bicycle tires, and of course plenty of birds!  Local winery Argyle Wines had their 2007 Pinot featured and Rogue Ales was there serving their Dead Guy Ale.  Everyone that attended also got one of the signature “Portlandia” bottles.  I think the entire SNL cast was there along with Lorne Michaels, Heather Graham, Kyle MacLaclan, and “Kenneth” from “30 Rock”.  Continue reading... “Video Footage of the NYC Premiere of Portlandia”
