Women in Film Portland Announces Winner For “Vision Grant”

Lindsay Trapnell wins Women in Film Portland Vision Grant for documentary about Rose City Riveters, supporters club for the Portland Thorns women’s soccer team.

Portland, Oregon; November 20, 2019Women In Film Portland has announced Lindsay Trapnell as the winner of its $5,000 Vision Grant award for her documentary film in progress called “Riveted.” The film is about the Rose City Riveters, a supporters club for the Portland Thorns women’s soccer team. #OregonMade “Shrill” Season 2 To Premiere January 24th

Hulu announced their the second season of “Shrill” (based on Lindy West’s bestselling 2016 memoir, Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman) will premiere January 24th, 2020 for 8 more episodes.  Aidy Bryant stars as Annie, “a fat young woman who wants to change her life — but not her body.”

Four local film projects win 2019 Portland Post Production Grants

The Portland Film Office, in partnership with the #OregonMade Creative Foundation, has announced the recipients of its second Portland Post Production Grant Program.  Selected from a pool of twenty-seven applicants, four local filmmakers will receive $5,000 for their respective projects.

The grant program is intended to support the professional development of local Portland filmmakers by providing funds for such activities as sound, picture editing, color matching, color grading, closed caption, tech specs for distributors, and music clearances using local post-production houses. The Birch” is a new #OregonMade original Facebook Watch Original web series starring, Xaria Dotson, Dempsey Bryk, and  Tommy Westmark.  The horror drama chronicles the frightening tale of, “a teenager seeking out the help of a monster who lives in the woods”and is based on the short film, ‘The Birch’ (2016). The original short had well over 35 million online views and went on to win a Webby for “Best Drama: Individual Short or Episode” in 2017 (and was also featured at Tribeca Film Festival 2017).

Oregon Film Trail Gets Two New Stops At Ecola State Park And Indian Beach

 

Oregon Film Trail continues at Ecola State Park with two signs and a map panel that were installed last week and officially unveiled yesterday.  They honor Ecola State Park’s starring role as a location in Twilight, Point Break, The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop. The Oregon Film Trail is designed to showcase iconic and interesting film locations in the state.   The signs at Ecola and Indian Beach mark four different filming locations related to the now-classic feature films; Twilight, Point Break, The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop. Oregon Film Trail Continues in Salem!

Two Oregon Film Trail signs were unveiled over the week end honoring Salem’s starring role as a location for “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” (the honors being done by Oregon Museum of Mental Health Museum Curator, Megan Lallier-Barron and Dennie Brooks, Board Member.)  The signs mark two different filming locations related to the now classic feature film, “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” and feature facts and anecdotes about the film. Michael Bartlett’s Portland produced film “The Berlin Bride” will premiere at Germany’s Hof International Film Festival. Now in its 53rd year, Hof is one of the leading film fests in Germany and has become well-established as a platform for young German directors and is widely regarded as important arena for discovering new talents. Of equal importance, however, are the independent movies from all over the world that make up roughly half the program consisting of 130 odd feature films, documentaries and shorts.
