Portland Film Community Presents!

June 24th at the Clinton St. Theater 6-9pm will be the first “Portland Film Community” event. We will be showing off the best of the Portland Film Community “Pick of the Month” which we have been posting every month for the last three years.

After that we will be showing a local feature independant film, that is packed full fabulous local talent.

Fastlife: An Oregon Family and Racing Documentary Series

 

A local auto dealer and his filmmaker wife have launched a documentary series on the international stage of Amazon Prime available for streaming now.

Derek DeBoer, an Oregon auto dealer, and his wife Brooke, a Southern Oregon Filmmaker teamed up in 2014 to create Fastlife, a show about a family striving to live their dreams amidst all the realities of every day life.

Marty in Transit – Portland Premiere

Hey all! My feature, filmed entirely in Portland, is premiering at The Clinton Street Theater this July. Marty in Transit is an ambitious 90-minute, one-shot thriller about an FBI Agent hunting down a killer who is targeting cab drivers.

It premieres on July 13th and 14th at 8 pm.  After this preview in Portland, we’re headed off to the festival circuit!

LOCAL FILMMAKER JOSH HOFFMAN TO SCREEN UNIQUE HORROR FILM AT THE PORTLAND UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL

 

Bloated Cat Productions and Penguin Films bring local filmmaker Josh Hoffman’s latest horror feature film, UNDER THE KNIFE, to the Portland Underground Film Festival on Sunday, May 20th at 9pm.  As the Closing Film for PUFF, UNDER THE KNIFE, will play in the historic Clinton Street Theater and be followed by a Q and A with the director.  Fresh off of its much-talked-about World Premiere in Japan at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in March, the film will have its North American Premiere at this gem of a festival here in Portland. The lives of a sorority girl, a star athlete, an activist, and a low income student intersect at a college party that determines their true identities.

Synopsis:

Droplets is a story about racism, sexuality, mental health, and human rights. It depicts the lives of four college students: Daphne, Gerard, Leo, and Michael. These students all struggle with their identity in a far from perfect world.

When a film crew arrives at a location it’s like a small army moving in. The industry in the northwest is vibrant and crews now are well versed even with the small market that exists here.

“My Own Private Idaho” 35mm Screening Big Success – #OregonMade50

 

As part of its 50th Anniversary, Oregon Film has teamed up with the Hollywood Theatre to bring several films shot in Oregon back to the big screen – earlier this week was this month’s offering, “My Own Private Idaho.” Gus Van Sant’s Shakespearean tale with River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves follows two friends, Mike and Scott, as they embark on a journey of personal discovery that is mostly set in Portland but takes them to Mike’s hometown in Idaho and finally to Italy in search of Mike’s mother. #OregonMade 50th Anniversary Film Series – “My Own Private Idaho” April 2nd

To put it simply, there have been a lot of great movies made in Oregon. Going back more than 100 years to “The Fisherman’s Bride” in Astoria, through to Buster Keaton’s, “The General”  shot in Cottage Grove; then moving into the westerns that took advantage of the diverse locations of Central Oregon and Mt.
