At Oregon Film & Television’sAnnual Meeting last night, we were able to honor some amazing Film Advocates who have been integral to the film and television industry.
Steve Oster (Producer, “Grimm“) announced the Film Advocate Awards that were presented to Derrick Roberson,Sergeant Erin Smith, and Sergeant Peter Simpson by Governor Kitzhaber.

PORTLAND, Oregon (December 20th, 2012) The feature film “Cell Count” made it’s World Premiere at this year’s Fantaspoa Film Festival in Brazil on May 20th. Since then it has gone to the Macabro Film Festival in Mexico, the Montreal HorrorFest in Canada, Sitges Film Festival in Spain, Rojo Sangre Film Festival in Argentina, Montevideo Fantastico Film Festival in Uruguay, Another Hole in the Head Film Festival in the USA, and Celluloid Screams in the UK. OMPA member and Indycar driver Dominic Cicero, who has supporting roles as an actor and stuntman on Leverage and Grimm, will compete with other
top professional drivers from around the world in a race simulation event at Big Al’s Beaverton this Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 5:00pm. Dominic Cicero was diagnosed with diabetes in 2010, and is racing to support the American Diabetes Association with a $2500 donation prize at stake. Good news for fans of “Portlandia”: the hiatus is almost over and new episodes will be airing soon. Season 3 of the IFC show starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein kicks off on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10pm. If that seems like a long time to wait for your “Portlandia” fix, there’s more good news: a special new episode, “Winter in Portlandia,” airs on Friday, December 14th at 10:30/9:30c.

With very little fanfare the cast and crew of the NBC series “Grimm” spent their weekend working two shifts at two different locations of the Oregon Food Bank packaging 24,139 pounds of food resulting in 15,259 meals for Oregonians in need. The effort was largely organized by local film workers Bruce Lawson and Dawnn Pavlonnis, but in total there were over 30 volunteers representing members of IATSE, SAG/AFTRA, DGA, and the Teamsters looking to give a little back to the community. Last week, web series creator Scotty Iseri received some good news on the startup venture he’s bringing into existence in September 2012; The Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television granted Iseri’s newest project, The Digits, to be the office’s first Next Generation media project to receive production rebates through the Indiginous Production Fund.
The Digits is an interactive “Appisode”, that involves a trio of lovable live action characters who travel the galaxy fighting evil. Iseri’s mission with The Digits is two-fold in helping 7-to-13 year olds love math and to feel good about their intelligence.
